mammograms - worse than the credit squeeze!

Oh the joys of womanhood! I had to go for my breast screening mammogram today. I should be used to it by now, it's my third one plus an extra last time when they found an anomaly and I had to go to the hospital for further boob squashing.

For those of you yet to enjoy such delights, imagine catching your boobs, one at a time in a printing press, then because you enjoyed it so much, you shut them in the door - one at a time again.

I'm not complaining, breast cancer is always a risk, especially as I've taken oestrogen for thirty years on and off, and I suspect it would hurt even more than the mammogram. Hopefully, they won't find any more anomalies and I can be spared the discomfort for another three years.

Anomalies or artifacts...

neither one is fun to hear about in an x-ray... I had an artifact this past summer (result was a CT Scan of my chest, abdomen & pelvis)... Spouse had an anomaly and had to do a repeat like yours... Having a good friend that is a breast cancer survivor... You'll not find anyone in our household paying attention. (She said, the pain was loosing the breasts, not in the cancer itself. A beneficial side effect of the therapy that cost her her hair - when it grew back, it was VERY curly... A pleasant surprise to her.)

I'm truely glad yours came out clean the 2nd time around. (They do the mamograms annually, for folks our age, around here.

Again, I'm very glad the anomaly was a false alarm when it happened. And, glad your passed this one as well. I don't know anyone that "enjoys" the experience. I've heard some large breasted women say that they wish they were smaller, so there would be less to squeeze and small breasted women say they wish they were bigger, so getting something between the plates was easier. No pleasing some people. :-)

Credit squeeze

I'm not sure I like the idea of the boobs in the door thing. As an ex-graphic designer for a small print company, the idea of squishing a boob under the roller, really doesn't appeal.

Having said that, this credit squeeze is like having your nuts crushed in a workmate with spikes in.

I don't like that much either

I don't just look it, I really AM that bad...

Must be the technician's personality disorder

I must be going to the right place for mammograms. I'm treated with kindness, never have i felt the intense pain or the symptom of a door slamming on my breasts. The technicians are careful and although the equipment is not designed for round or pear shaped objects , she gets things done without inflicting pain.
Since I have had augumentation I am no longer to be subjected to mammograms.
My feelings about how one is subjected to mammograms is based on previous treatment given to the technician when she received hers. I'm sure when in classes they have to give each other a mammogram to gain experience. I really beleive the pain most recveive is a payback from when the technician got her first mammogram from a fellow student.

Fingers crossed

I'll be thinking positive thoughts for a negative result.

And you have my sympathies. Been there, done that, got the internal bruising. And I had (I assume) a lot less there to hurt than you do.

Yes it is de-pressing

... to say the least ;).

I have the added complication of having implants and it means more pictures are required. Plus you worry about the not so nice pressure being placed on the implant and getting a 'blow out'.
