That's right. I did it again. What did I do, you ask? Well I fell asleep at the wheel again today. I Sleept yesturday morning after getting home from working a double shift. I sleep from a little after 8am untill 1pm. Then I fell asleep a little after midnight and woke up at 4 am today so that I could go to work. To day was a very rough day and There was no chance for lunch. On my way home I was having trouble staying awake. I turned off the heat and cracked a window hopeing the cold air would wake me up. I was just 2 miles from my house when I closed my eyes and drifted twoard the side of the road. Then I hit the snow at the side of the road and I lost controll of my car. Actually I was using my moms car today as mine was in the shop. I ended up about 19 feet from the road in a snow field with almost 2 feet of snow in it. This is my second car accident this year because I fell asleep at the wheel. I need a job with better hours.

At least I did not hit a school bus this time.lol

sleeping

You should get tested for sleep apnea. I take a drug called provigil that helps you stay awake. It is non addictive form of an amphetamine and is very safe to take. If you stop taking for a week there is no withdrawal symptoms at all. I started taking it after I dozed off at the wheel and damaged one of my side mirrors.

It is a long road ahead but I will finally become who I should be.

Sleep apnea

I got tested for sleep apnea after my accident in june. They gave me a machine I'm supposed to wear at night. It never did anything for me and I can't stand wearing it.

the dreaded machine

I hate the machine too and do not use it. But do try the provigil it works better than nothing.

Please give the cpap machine

Please give the cpap machine another try. There are many different masks available and one will be comfortable. Untreated sleep apnea is bad for you and for other drivers on the road. Next time you won't drift off the side of the road you may drift into on coming traffic.

Shaking Spears

I think your subject line hints at a solution to your problem - wear a naughty schoolgirl uniform from now on every time you drive, and sing along with Britney blasting on the stereo. That should provide enough stimuli to keep you awake, as will the fear of being caught looking ridiculous if you do fall asleep. (Ok, the naughty schoolgirl was a different song, but it's more fun of an outfit.)

Oops..

I use the machine, and love it. My doctor does not like medications unless they are necessary, and I agree.

My dad

uses the machine, due to too much pressure on his lungs or something. We have to watch him if he passes out in his recliner, because there's a strong possibility he could stop breathing- and never wake back up.

I'm glad you're safe, since more important than cars are people, but I would consider getting used to the machine- luck only goes so far.
