I AM thinking of FEW FOR #1

Tanya allen's, 'how dreams can change' (think that is the name). Other then that they are at the tip of my toungue i just cannot put it together. I would suggest checking for FTM labelled stories then, they are quite rare in comparison to mtf, so it should narrow your search down. #2.... well sounds like a 'medalion of zulu' or 'spells are us' story, it being involving a stripper.... hard to tell but it might be 'morpheus's' work of sorts, their larger collection is at FM though & older ones at the old CS.

Medallion of Zulu

The second is clearly one of the zillion Medallion of Zulu stories. Unfortunately, I don't know which one, and search is not working right now.

Oops!

My apologies. Me and spelling have an unfortunate relationship.

Yes, I went to see...

Iolanthe Portmanteaux's picture

I had to go and see, and honestly I have to say that National Geographic Centerfold is one of your best and strongest stories.

The funniest part was when she found herself saying "Umnumzana uzokhokha konke" (This gentleman will pay for everything) without knowing what it meant.

Actual Sentence?

Daphne Xu's picture

Was that an actual sentence in Zulu (or one of the languages there)? Or was it made up for the story?

It's real

Iolanthe Portmanteaux's picture

Yes, indeed. It's even included in some lists of "useful phrases in Zulu."

And this story is located where

BarbieLee's picture

Google search didn't find it even when tying it in with BCTS.
Anyone want to clue me in how to search for individual stories on BCTS without resorting to Google?
thanks

I'm sorry, but there is no story

Iolanthe Portmanteaux's picture

Unless I'm greatly mistaken, there is no such story. When I saw Laika's comment, I was dumb enough to go and look for the story, and not finding it, I left my silly comment.

I do love a good joke

BarbieLee's picture

Better than just a good joke is when I get caught up in the mix master myself. I love it!
Now we are going to have to write the story.

Doll, you may be forgiven but it will cost you. If I can get the blue gown off Angela, I may settle for that black gown you wore to Prince Andrew's Christmas party. The blackest sheen I had ever seen. I didn't know black could be more reflective than a mirror??? Where in the world did you find that puppy? I wanted to ask you that night but couldn't get through the swarm of men (and boys) surrounding you.
Back on track here. Loan me the dress and you're forgiven.

Sorry, didn't mean to send everyone on a wild goose chase!

laika's picture

Sorry about that; I have a bad habit of assuming that people know when I'm kidding and it's lead to some bad feelings when I posted a straightfaced account of finding an old WWII era 78 rpm Victory Disc featuring a patriotic song called SISSIES ON PARADE about sissies helping the war effort (Oh when they hear the bugle call! The sissies hide behind the wall! A soldier's life might not be for 'em! But they're compassionate and warm, in a nurse's uniform...) It lead to some anger toward me by a reader when they thought it was real and felt I'd been lying rather than creating fiction. I pulled that faux article/story...

I almost feel compelled to write the damn Medallion of Zulu story now, except I have no interest in writing such a story. Although when I was on the cusp of adolescence some of my "I wish I was her" moments came from pictures in articles in National Geographic. Also the lingerie section of the Sears Catalogue, as described in my story I WAS A SEARS CATALOGUE CENTERFOLD GIRL...

decades

I've been on the cusp of female adolescence for decades. For me it was also Spiegel and Montgomery Ward. I still wish I was her.

If It Wasn't Peach Season

In my youth, the Sears catalog was left in our outhouse. It had two purposes. 1.) Reading material, and 2.) a much more utilitarian function, sort of an "after" thought.

Never was a fan

I really didn't like his singing. I felt he butchered every single song I ever heard. If he came on the radio I'd change stations or turn the radio off.
Have I made it clear how much I didn't like his style? Until Willy Nelson came along I never listened to another country singer I despised. Some I didn't care for but Willy grates on the nerves. If he was the only singer on this earth, I wouldn't be listening to any songs.
Hugs Jill, now about that blue dress..., or the turquoise one

No Idea Why

Daphne Xu's picture

I was searching something, and hit this blog entry that I'd read and commented on before.

"he has a medallion that allows him to change into into the last person wearing the cloths they end up losing the medallion and he is stuck as her twin" -- I have no idea why it didn't occur to me that he was lucky. The Medallion usually disappears at the most inconvenient moment. At least he was stuck as her twin and not her cat's twin.
