It's probably nothing, but I just want to inform in case the site's administrators aren't aware of it.
For the past few weeks (maybe a couple of months already) the site doesn't seem to ever stop loading. It's not that the site loads half or anything like that. The site already loaded completely, but my browser tells me that the site is still loading. You know that circle thing in chrome tab name and the dot thing that move left and right in firefox tab name.
For your information, I'm using the latest version of firefox. No other site has this issue. It seems to also has the same problem on Chrome sometimes. I have whitelisted bigcloset on firefox and I never use adblocker on chrome (since chrome's a resource hog) so it's unlikely to be problem with ads not loading properly.
It's probably nothing, but I just thought I'd let whoever maintains the site know about this, in case it's bleeding the site's resources thus making the site more expensive to run for no reason.

Referred to Piper
I haven't seen this, so I can't debug it. I visit the site daily with five different browsers. The other thing I can think of that might produce this is if the images are not loading. The images are on a different server (located in the same rack) and if you had a firewall configured to block that server, you would get the same result as you describe.
We'll see what Piper says but it may be a while before she gets to it.

This problem is normally caused by...
If the final closing tag is not sent then some browsers will keep showing the page is still loading while other browsers will incorrectly but deliberately claim it is finished.
For instance, if the page starts with <html> then it is supposed to finish with </html> but many web sites to not transmit the final </html>.
But...
But that would affect everyone using really finicky browsers like Safari or Opera. I haven't seen this problem except when someone was trying to hotlink an image on the front page, or a server failed.
I think it must be a firewall problem. BC is served from five different servers: database+frontpage, image, search, and two caching servers (one ours, one belonging to CloudFlare). Six plus, really, since there are two database servers (failover) and CF servers are local to the user end.

reloading
I have seen it but only when running more than one browser and more than one tab on each browser at the same time.
Have a good day and enjoy life.
Reloading and stuff
I've not seen this using the ESR (Extended Support Release. currently 60.2.2) of Firefox on MacOS or with Safari.
However, I don't see any cloudfare links in NoScript whereas there used to be but I do see a reference to pingdom.net
What is this for?
At least BC is not as bad as some sites. One well known news sites links to more than 100 ad trackers, location trackers and other stuff to track your every movement. It also wants to put more than 20 tracking cookies into your browser. It is war people, war.

Pingdom
Pingdom helps us monitor site load times for end users. Our experience is often quite different so we look to see what the average load time is for users to help make improvements.

Page loading
I have a different error. If I refresh the page it reloads what's there, if I click on the link from favourites it loads new stories but doesn't show recent comments, who's online etc, I have tried different browsers on my cell restarted the cell and it still does it no matter what
Links
Favorites are links you have created. The "Free Stories" page is exactly what you describe. Did you favorite that instead of the Front Page?

Sort of Wondering Myself...
My Favorites (Safari 11.0.3) entry for BC that used to connect to the Front Page now connects to the Free Stories page, Started doing that about two weeks ago, within a day or two of the end of the September contest.

Browser function?
If this is a browser function you are talking about, just favorite or bookmark the new version of the front page (I did make a change at the end of September). That should work.

Re: Browser function?
Interesting. Since you made that change, I haven't been able to see reliable updates of new comments in stories within the listing on the front page. Before that, I could skim down the page and KNOW whether a story had new comments or not.
Since then, except for 2 or 3 rather brief occasions, the whole front page shows as ALL new comments, whether true or not.
Personally, I'd much rather have the old version you had before you changed it. I've never used favourites or bookmarks, so I don't have something like that to go back to now. Oh, well, it just means it takes me longer to check stories I'm following.
FYI, I'm using Safari 12.0 as my browser if that helps at all.
New comments
Now that you mention it, I also noticed that all my comments are labelled as new even after I opened them many times. I do not know since when this happens, but it's certainly no more than 3 months long. I'm talking about topshelf frontpage, not my author library.
IE 11
I got this to on some page I use IE 11 as it is the only one that plays nice with software I use ( read & write 10 gold )
