for the ones who was station in Vietnam . Do you know if you have any problems with your health. I don't know yet but I think I might have cancer in my blood

I guess?

That you might be wondering about the effects of Agent Orange on your body?
There is some evidence that it can cause some types of Cancer but AFAIK, there is no hard proof.

If you think you have Leukaemia then you need to get tested (blood and probably a bone marrow biopsy) and then if concerned get it treated ASAP.
For those that don't know, the bone marrow is key to our blood supply and immue system. Mess up the bone marrow and you are in deep do-do.
I'm in remission from Hairy Cell Leukaemia(from 2009).
This is one of the very rare and very slow growing types of the disease. 5-7 years is the norm. I don't know if there are many slower growing types but IANADOM (I am not a doctor of medicine).

Good luck
Samantha

I managed to avoid Viet Nam however...

I have friends who did get sucked into that mess. One, a grade school friend, had some significant problems he attributed to Agent Orange. His problems seemed to show up within 20 years. Another, my ex brother-in-law, seems to have escaped any problems.

By all means, see your health care providers and be aggressive about them doing a full range of tests and treatment. Remember, you, not your doctor, are in charge of your treatment. A doctor can only advise you what you should do, and what medicine to take, but it's up to you take or reject the advice. It's also up to you to make sure your doctor is doing everything possible to alleviate your illness.

To get cancer, it requires for a healthy cell to transform itself into a malign cell. The process might take years to complete. You cannot have leukemia at two months after exposing yourself to something. However, you might have it from some other source earlier in your life. If your visit happened an year ago, then, you can think you got your disease from there.

There are many other blood diseases that spread in Vietnam and other nearby regions. Please think about them too.

If you really have leukemia, it comes with a massive growth of a certain type of blood cell (depending which one is affected). Make a blood test, it will show you what is going on.

May you be happy
