A fair and well-written article. It always makes me wonder why there is always an element of the Establishment/Power Structure that is opposed to allowing people the right to decide what they want under the pretext of protecting them from themselves. I knew what I wanted at the age of 12 and 100% by the time I was 14. The technology described didn't exist then, but now it does, so why not use it? The chances of it doing any lasting harm seem very remote,

Small steps
Here in the UK we are still fighting for the right for individuals to be complete human beings; not what others think they should be but what THEY KNOW they should be. Yes, the situation is getting better but GIRES and other charities are fighting for every inch of ground that is given.
Mermaids and Gires are supporting the October conference. Like everything, it's not enough, but, like dripping water, every drop erodes a little of the opposition.
It would have been wonderful to have had the information, support and courage necessary to achieve a satisfactory result in the 1960's. They weren't there. There was only fear and bullying. Sadly, some things don't change, or change very slowly.
We can but hope for a brighter tomorrow for these young people and also hope that they might be allowed to live - really live. Is that too much to ask?
