I got my wheel back lunch time and have sorted it and the brakes this evening. The good news is, I won't now have to destroy the universe.

You completely have my sympathy, you poor thing. Back when I was riding, I got in that same desperate-feeling situation a few times. I kept promising myself I'd get spare wheels built ahead of time and ready to swap out the next time a problem came up, but it was years before I ever did.
