Good advice indeed. It is not only pedal cyclists that can be affected by tin-can door opening. Us Motorcyclists can meet a sticky end as well.

This was definitely a good article. I've been doored myself, went heels over head, got banged up a bit but the bike got the worst of it, the impact with the car door bent the heck out of the front wheel of the bike, I ended up having to walk it home later that night.
Now if we had that sort of program running here, incidents like mine might not happen. That would be an improvement.
I haven't owned a bicycle for about ten years, I might get one in the summer, it would be a decent way to get around the city.

Perhaps someone could tell the UK transport minister, who took a cyclist out by getting out of a car without 'seeing' hum.
By using this technique
You can gauge the most opportune time to open your car door so that the cyclist does not have time to swerve or stop :)
