I just saw that Robert Lynn Asprin has passed away. He was the popular author of the "Another fine Myth" series among many others. Robert also with his ex-wife Lynn Abby was responsible for the Thieves World Anthology. Details can be found here.

I know

His Time Scout series was excellent. Ripping Time and the sequel The House that Jack Built was two of my favorite time travel adventure stories. He will be missed indeed.

Nooo!

I had a nightmarish, hellish childhood. Robert Asprin was at least partially responsible for me learning to laugh and roll with the punches. Humor is my main coping mechanism, and the adventures of the Great Skeeve, along with Phule's Company... had a bunch to do with that.

"Holy batshit, fatman!" -- R

Was the header of one of the chapters of the Myth Adventures. That is the first time I truly remember laughing until I peed myself.

I met him -- very briefly and with a total fangrrl giggle and a, "Yer Robert Asprin!" simper -- at Dragon*Con 2004. I got to shake his hand and very narrowly kept myself from hugging him. Now, he's dead?

Holy batshit, fatman!

A true Fan of the Art

It is reported that he was found on his couch with a science fiction book in hand. If you have to go...

A very fanish author

So Yang the Nauseating has left the stage. Founder of the Dorsai Irregulars, Master of the punday night, I'm sure there is mirthful groaning wherever he might wander now.

Salute

We've lost another of the good people. Asprin's Myth books along with Phil Foglio's cover art have always been a bright and light-hearted part of the SF world. I never met the man but he seemed very open and helpful to fans from everything I've heard. Hugs to all his family, friends and fans and a salute to his shade. I wonder what it was he was reading.
