So, when I was talking about posting the pieces of this story I wrote as a sort of fanfic, The Violet Ajah, I was proud of the fact that I had actually gotten James Rigney's permission to write it, as well as the fact that he liked the first 4 chapters of it when I sent them to him. [NOTE: James Rigney is the real name of the author known as Robert Jordan]
Before posting more than the teaser here, I wrote to his publishing house to find out how to get in touch with his widow. She, much as her late husband, does not "do" the email thing, so I had to send her a snail mail letter requesting permission to post the story, because, though I wouldn't be doing anything illegal, I didn't feel right not respecting the author or his family. Today, I received my reply from her. She wants to read the story in its entirety before she'll give any kind of permission -- though she did say I was kind and thanked me for bothering to seek permission. I need to finish my clean up of the whole thing, print it out, and mail it to her. Then, if she approves of it, I can post it here at that time.
Until then, the story will sit with only the Prologue/Teaser. I apologize to those who are awaiting it, but hopefully it will be able to be continued in a reasonable amount of time. Once I get an approval from her, I can post a chapter per day, as it /is/ a completed story.

Hope she feels the same!
Crossing my fingers for you... hopefully she has the same spirit as her husband.
