As of February 10th Boston (Mass) has received just over six feet of snow for the season with a storm this weekend expected to add another 12 inches.

Despite this, there has been a first indication of Spring. The equipment truck for the Boston Red Sox (Major League Baseball) is being loaded for the trip to Florida to start Spring training.

here in the lower mainland of BC, the fruit trees are already blooming, flowers have their blooms almost opening and leaves re starting to come out on the maples, oaks and chestnuts.

and it is +10C with a light mist of rain right now.

Stupidity is a capital offense. A summary not indictable.

Here in Texas the grass is still brown.... and i hope it stays that way for quite a while to come. I have several acres i have to mow every summer, it's hot, backbreaking work, and frankly im getting too old for it. Not to mention tired of doing it.. I've been mowing these lands since i was 12

Mowing grass

I thought that in Texas you had these big things, a leg at each corner and horns at one end, did your mowing for you?

If they are too much, I'm sure the short woolly ones would work just as well.

We Have A While To Go Yet

The further north you go, the bigger the delay between the position of the sun in the sky and its capacity to heat up the sea, which in maritime environments like the UK determines the average air temperature.

This means that in NE England (55 degrees N) Christmas is really in autumn, and winter doesn't kick in until New Year or sometimes the middle of January. The downside is that we have to wait until the last week in April for the flowers to bloom and the trees to blossom.

But what a week that is!

Ban nothing. Question everything.

.

That's not a sign of spring, that's a sign of February. :P

Where are they?

Here in central NJ at the Sissy Castle we are anxiously waiting for the 250 crocus bulbs I planted last fall to pop their lovely blooms.
