I guess...
I guess it's a good thing these computer things won't ever catch on...
(Though, even with all the problems, I'm glad it's let me get to know - even a little - you and others here.)
Best wishes,
Annette
How many are enough?
First, I'm a junkie, computer junkie. I never have enough. From where I sit there are six of the foolish things in plain site.
Second, I found a profession that would not conflict with my addiction. I worked thirty five plus years, as the owner/repairman for a store I owned. Then I was hired as a Senior Engineer for Hughes Electronics, then at Raytheon. I could tell you stories about one plant. One day a new hire was to clean the electro plating area, Being dilligent the newbie opened the valve to drain the tank. He had drained about half of the plating solution and 10.2 million dollars in gold. He was not asked back.
Finally, I wound up in my dream job. I managed HP Mainframes for one of the University of California campuses. I loved it, I had a room full of blinky lights. On a hot summer day I'd take my work in there, hide, and get a ton of work done.
It was working for UC that I came across a Penn State memo to the white house. If you lack a crucial bit of knowledge you could right it off and a group of Luddites. Mores the pity. Penn State was where the first American computer was built. The director wrote a status report, and "computers are used for such specific purposes I can't envision the US needing more than two or three."
Hugs, Love, and Blessings,
Beth
