Hi everyone,
surfing around the net I've found several interesting role playing games that are played in forums. One form, where the gamemaster essentially write the story, fascinated me very much. The players decide by vote what the character does and the game master rolls to decide wether that action succeeds and what the consequences are.
I thought that we could maybe do the same here and wanted to ask if some of you would be interested. That wouldn't mean commitment to anything, I just want to know if people would be willing to check in and vote for the next action once in a while.
I guess it would be like those series stories, only that you get to decide what the character does next. How well the actions work are decided by a roll of dice (there are kind of nifty tools on the net for it :)).
The story/quest would be about a shaman of a stoneage-tech level tribe in a fantasy world. Thanks to a recent even the shaman has become the only shaman of their tribe. You would decide about gender, sex, background, etc and the quest would begin. As players you would be like the spirits that advice the shaman. Anyone could join in as a "spirit advisor" (by simply joining the discussion) whenever they feel like it, or not write anything if they don't care at the moment.
What would you prefer as writing style? I'm kind of split between second person and third person.
I'm curious if anyone is interested.

I think we had something like that a few years back. Dont remember any details at all. But I will see if I have anything thatmight jog the neurons

I did a series called Pickles
That had a somewhat similar element to it. I stopped getting enough responses, though, so it kind of died on the vine.

I've got a slight problem with my worldbuilding/game mechanics: Does anyone know how much a human averagely eats per month or day? Either in kg or kcal or kJoule.
I've never done any RPGs
Though I've always wanted to. BUT I'm not into kill, kill, kill type games. Something with quests to find hidden treasure and such would interest me.

It's not so much about
It's not so much about killing. It's about a shaman who will support their tribe. Killing is for warriors, not for spiritual leaders and medicine-beings. That doesn't mean that we can't get into a scrap. Slaughtering our way through dungeons is not the point of the quest though. I hope. I guess that would be a way to play it too... but I doubt that will happen with the people at BCTS.
The story/quest is mostly focussed on our life with the tribe and the complication that come up. There will be events and treassures of course, but since we're living in a pretty much primal world, there won't be many treasure hunts in the classical sense.
I've never played much RPG's myself, especially since the normal pen and paper roleplays are really complicated and kind of hard too coordinate, I think. This is pretty simple though. I write and roll the story, and you girls and guys suggest what our hero is going to do next. Simple decision by majority helps to avoid problems of missing players. Taking a pause for a turn or two won't hurt and won't stop the game from progressing.
In the end it's like one of those "write your own story" kind of books. Only that the game is really responsive and you're not confined to a limited number of choices.

I've a forum based RPG over at TGC Forums, what you propose sounds a bit weird but it might be fun - it's not much of an RPG though as far as I can tell, to me an RPG has multiple characters interacting and co-operating on a common cause, this just seems like we are all in it for ourselves. How will you cope with conflicting requests? I will wait and see I think.
