Gabycon is but a month away!
If you are planning on attending all or just part of the weekend please contact me by either pm here or email asap so I have some idea of numbers.
Based in Sheffield, the programme is as follows:-
Friday welcome meal on the edge of the Peak National Park
Saturday bike ride across north Nottinghamshire to Newark followed by meal and Author readings
Sunday excursion to Ilkley to follow the TdF stage 2 route back to Sheffield
There will be several authors in attendance including myself (dur!)and Angharad so if you have questions about our squiggles you'll have a chance to ask them face to face!

Just a heads up.
Not sure by which route you're riding to Newark but the A617 was closed on Monday at Kelham bridge and there was an extensive diversion between Kelham and the big A617/A46 junction that would probably add 3 miles to the ride. Of course you may be able to get through on bikes but they may be widening the bridge, so ... who knows?
That junction is a swine for cyclists because it's big and fast. When they put it in it would have been so easy to put a tunnel under the bypass to allow pedestrians and cyclists to use the old road but they didn't.
Hope you all have a good time.
Robi
hopefully
by the time Gabycon happens at the end of September that will be fixed but we might just head to Southwell and find lunch there.

Gabycon 2013
I won't manage to attend this years Gabycon.
It would have been nice to meet you all again, but my vacation budget for this year somehow was completely consumed by my transition preparations ;-)
Also it looks I have to work this weekend :(
So I'll have to try again next time...

Hope to get there.
Hope to get there any idea of dates yet?
PS I'll be respectable, honestly.
Forgive my boundless ignorance...
...but what exactly is Gabycon?

GabyCon explained
GabyCon is an annual weekend get-together for UK-based TopShelfers, focussed around Maddy's Gaby stories.
The weekend usually starts with a meal on the Friday evening, during which Saturday's plans are explained in more detail.
Saturday usually involves a bike ride somewhere, a few hours to explore the attraction (and have lunch!), then a bike ride back. In the evening, there's another group meal.
Sunday usually involves an excursion by car somewhere, finishing mid-afternoon (to give those who need to be back at work on Monday chance to make the journey home).
Scattered at convenient points throughout the activities are readings from both Maddy's Gaby stories (usually sneak previews from whichever book she's currently writing) and Angharad's Gaby fanfics (as the past two GabyCons were held down in Ang's neck of the woods, where she also set her fanfics, she read extracts centered around wherever we were at the time).
Needless to say, those who can't spare the entire weekend are welcome to attend whichever bits they can.
As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!
Have to skip again
I'm sorry, but we can't attend Gabycon again this year. I'll be traveling to prepare for my surgeries which I'll get most likely before november.
