Hey folks, Krunch here. I suspect everyone has heard the news about Holly. And I know lots of people have had things to say.
I guess I don't really have anything deep to add. I think I've made my feelings on Holly clear once or twice. This is just based on working with Holly; so many people knew her much better than I did and I'll let them tell you how great she really was.
All I can say is, for whatever reason, we all live and die, and what a wonderful thing it is that we get to share the ride with one another. Holly never missed an opportunity to be good to people, which is the best way to be cause you might only get that one chance to be good to someone else. And since we're all in this miraculous life together for as long as it lasts, we should be grateful and never miss an opportunity to be decent. We should be thankful when we meet someone like Holly, and in her absence, we should remember her example.
On a more visceral note, this sucks and I am not okay with it.

But life has to go on. So just be glad if you knew her in any content and be glad of it! Thanks Holly!

You were the first person I thought of
When I heard that Holly had died, I thought immediately about Admiral Krunch's repeated high praise for Holly, as an editor and a person. I have had some contact with her, some notes and emails, and I have to say that I thought very highly of her and always found her to be good and kind. I remember when she was having a very difficult time with something, and she told me simply what was happening - without any self-pity. Her attitude was simply, "This is what I've been dealt."
I can't say I knew her well, but I knew her well enough to be struck by her death, and to miss her.
I was always happy to see the Admiral's praise of Holly -- editors are usually invisible, and I've rarely seen them credited or thanked.
