Yeah!
Rock, Beatles thru Lesh and Weir's Grateful Dead re-creations; older metal, older folk rock.

& Iggy, Bowie, Bauhaus, John Cale, Shonen Knife- the usual gang of idiots;
none of which is exactly metal (although I am partial to Brian Eno's

I dont mind rock, metal isnt my thing
I have a soft spot for middle-of-the-road pop - I grew up on artists like the Police, Genesis, and the Eurythmics. Plus, of course I listened to Klaatu .....
Welcome
Welcome to BC, Amy. :) I'm glad the link I gave you got you here.
I do love rock and roll, though there is a lot of variation with that genre. And I enjoy some of the metal music my daughter has introduced to me, although I don't like the loud, screaming, 'noisy' music as I like to understand the lyrics.
Hugs,
Mark <3
I like a wide variety
But several of my favorite artists are part of the metal scene. Static X, Emperor, and of course the greatest metal god of all, DIO.

I'm a white kid from a black town...
I really dig Grand Funk, Fusion Jazz, R&B, Blues, Folk, Country & Western, Country Rock, Elvis, Gospel and anything New Wave.
No cRap, Hip Hop, Metal, or New Age.
My favorite Groups are Devo, Muddy Waters, Sam & Dave, Elvis, Doug Church, and Queen.
My Eldest daughter is Amy Lee so good name choice!

There is no argument
Led Zepplin are the greatest rock band of all time, Bonzi said so - end of. (Whizz prefers Cream, least i think that's what she said). Me, I like Clanad, Steel Eye Span, Beethoven, Vaughan Williams and John Williams - in fact my taste is quite eclectic and have a couple of hundred CDs of all sorts. Of course those who share my likes have taste, those who don't... we won't talk about them.

I take Bonzi's suggestion and nod
...but I would add a few more. I have peppered my writings with music, and while it has been folk in the main, with some classical, I have mentioned Metallica (Hywel's voice roaring over Steph's manic fiddling), Tull (Annie on one leg in a world of her own)and a few lesser-known bands like Hawkwind.
I remember Alvin Lee, and tend to think of him as a shredder rather than a player. And then there is the definition of 'metal itself. Here is a band that many of the 'greats' cite as seminal, riffing their hearts out. And they are Welsh.

I would also offer these as true metal pioneers (sorry about the wildly inappropriate ad!):

Of course, there was always the ORIGINAL ACDC, with one of the truly great front men in rock:

And, well off the wall, but amazing:

Finally, as Cream were mentioned, here is their producer, to let an American band have a look-in. UK readers might just recognise the riff from Sunday lunchtime TV:
