I've had a request today (No names, no pack drill,) to exclude the long Character list at the beginning of each chapter of 'Angry Mermaid' and instead to simply post the said list as a side order in the stories. If anybody's got any opinions or feelings about this please comment. As a matter of course, I'm going to post the Character as a short story in my stories list and see what requests I get.

That or perhaps only list charaters in the particular chapter?
I appreciate having the list but as the story has grown we have many now inactive characters listed along with current ones.
Still some have come back into the tale after long absenses, the sister who was forced into slavery as a dancer for example.

It makes sense
After all, why repeat the same information over and over?
When your tale gets over a certain size and the cast of characters could fill a small town it begins to make sense to gather up all your reference material and perhaps post it as a Gazetteer.
I didn't do that for SEE, but I eventually allowed a reader with too much time on their hands to make one and the result is a document that contains definitive information which isn't replicated everywhere (with obvious problems keeping it all up to date) and is so useful even the author uses it! There may even be maps to come...
Try it and see. A simple link at the beginning of each chapter to your list may be all that is needed.

I've always appreciated the cast list at the beginning of each of your chapters. Sometimes my memory is little better than that of my prey! :'D
Though I would draw the line before listing characters which haven't appeared yet. = )
