Hello BC fans!!! ^___^ ;-D

I have been reading a lot of stories done by some great authors here. So, for the last several months I began writing one of my own. But lo and behold, Uncle Murphy decided to stick in one of his quirky Murphy Laws. A double whammy. First I got attacked by a pop-up ad virus from "Outer Info Ads". You can not get rid of it. It will blow past anything you have. It is very malicious, it is a root virus that will install its own program onto your PC. You have heard of CasalMedia. They are harmless. But not this group. They are a bunch of hacks. The other whammy is a lightning spike. It took out my sound portion on the PC motherboard. Eventually other failures took place over time. By this time I had written 7 chapters of "The Rescue Mission". Fortunately the hard-drive is okay. I just need to save up some money to get a new Windows XP PC. Fortunately also I have two other PCs at home to use as spares, Windows 98 and a Windows ME PC. I bought the Win 98 about 2 years ago to run some old PC games that I have like Descent 1 and 2 and Tempest. I also have Descent 3, but I will have to wait to play it again until I get a new PC.

Okay onto the story. There was a phrase I remembered from a Sci-fi show awhile back. Max Headroom - 20 minutes into the future. So, by taking that idea and a picture that I saw somewhere, two girls walking down a beach hand in hand. I came up with story for "The Rescue Mission". How far into the future is this story? It could be tomorrow or a hundred years from now. It is still being fleshed out and outlined out. But I have enough right now for 10 chapters and possibly more if all goes well.

This is a story of Fiction. No such organization in the city where it is located in South Carolina. The Rescue Mission first of all is a half-way house located on an island near Charleston. It is privately runned. No state funds are involved. They rely on donations from many different companies. It's two major sources of income are an inheritance from a CEO and the winnings of a major lottery amount. They were able to purchase an abandoned major Hotel after Hurricane Hugo came through years ago. It is nice and isolated for abused women and their children to help themselves to recover and go back to the real world. You can only get there by boat.

Part of the premise of the story is for myself. I remembered being a kid and making friends with a girl I really liked, we had a lot of fun together. But we broke up and never saw each other again because our dads had jobs that caused them to move another state. This story is the hope that they get back together again, but the path to get there is long.

The story surrounds two families living next to each in another state. Some of the emotions dealt with are real for what I went through personally. I am thinking of some categories to describe it - cross dressing, sci-fi, inter-sexual, operation to name a few. The hero loses his family while he is in college. There is a rape scene in one of the chapters on the heroine. There is some violence as well on both the hero and the heroine of the story. For the sci-fi part, the hero invents the first generation holo-recorder and player. It gets installed as an additional survellance piece to record in 3-d all images. There is also some internet espionage and possible take over of a city's government positions and bank accounts. It is the clash of two futures, which one will win out?

Well time for bed and a week of work ahead. But that's for another blog entry.

Welcome

Gwen Sorry about the Divorce. Mine about killed me.

I'll be looking forward to seeing your stories.

The last time I was in Best Buy, I think I saw a new vista machine for under $400. Just an idea, and do use a supressor if you can. Better yet, use a UPS, and that will stop most spike induced damage. A couple of the people here swear that use of Firefox with prevent most viruses. That's what they say.

Quickie Follow Up

Hello Gwen and A.A. ^___^ ;-D
Thank you for your responses. As far as the lightning hit goes, I am double protected, using a UPS and a very decent surge suppressor power strip. Lightning can be very sneaky and powerful. It goes to the path of least resistance. The UPS is first then the surge protector. It still got pass the UPS but it took out the surge suppressor that was there, it did minimize the damage, but I had still had to replace the power strip. Being in the Orlando area of Florida, we are the lightning capital of the world because we are a very large penisula.

I am going to try and slave the XP hard-drive into the ME machine and see if I can access the files. I should be able to. I will probably try and use Firefox as a browser and see how it goes. Just like this story that I am writing about, I think people can use their talents better to help people instead of trying to destroy others. It is all a power game to them.

When I first started writing this story, I could not believe how fast it was pouring out of me. I did send the first 3 chapters out to some friends here at BC to give me a hand on the grammer and thought flow. They came back quite 'bloodied', hah, hah, hah ... Each chapter is about 20 pages, single space typing. But I got into a deliema how to revolve the story about the two families. So I decided to alternate the chapters between the two groups, it worked out really well. I made sure some of the diaglogues are the same, but the point of view is different when some of the cast got on the phone talking to each other. I found it kept the pace even. Even the first two chapters are rushed time wise in years, but it did slow it down to almost one chapter a day on the 3rd chapter and beyond.

So I need to recover the files from the XP hard-drive. I hoping to get that resolved within this week. But it does give me time to recharge the batteries once it gets going again.

Well that is it for now. Have a wonderful week one and all.
