what can one say

I find it odd to have a group of people who are so publicly against alternative lifestyles but who act in ways that one wonders what they do or at least think behind closed doors. Benedict was regarded as a bit of a clothes horse especially when compared to his predecessor. (Now there is nothing wrong with liking clothes.)

The new guy ...

... apparently has a reputation for being down to earth but will he be catching the bus wearing a gold dress?

Well, Benedict should have been a very conservative Pope and he wasn't in the end. I wonder what the next will be like.

Now that there is

a new Pope, what will be his Decrees? How will he change the Catholic Church?

...he's already made his stance know regarding homosexuality, which restates the church's views. I don't think it is hateful so much as it is dogmatic and reactionary. His views on other issues will likely be just as conservative as his predecessor; albeit with perhaps a much sterner voice considering the scandal of Cardinal O'Brien. The only change anyone can expect will come from individual folks who may hold to very different views than their Pontiff, and not within the church per se.

Oddly enough, it feels almost like a scenario in a story one might find here; the well meaning but misunderstanding parent who cannot see the creation in front of them but for the guise they present, which is sadly wrong in their eyes. Maybe we can hope and pray that someone might finally see what we've known all along; that we all are fearfully and wonderfully made, aye?

I have not been following,

But if he is against homosexuality and not booting out the priesthood who 'tamper' with little boys then he is a hypocrite who continues to destroy any value the Catholic Church ever had. How is that not homosexuality?

well it seems rather juvenile really

It is to be expected though. If you don't agree with the teachings of the catholic church or any other church for that matter, you can find one somewhere that will cater to your desires.

No such luck for some of us.

All relegions I've seen so far claim things they can't deliver. Hate, rape and murder from all loving Christians of all denominations, violence of bhuddists... Name religion or denomination and there is something nasty or plane crazy going on. Scientology makes sense sometimes, but it's known fact that it was created for sole purpose of supplying Ron L Hubbard with billion dollars...

So for me it is free atheism. Where you can't hide behind some kind of god, dogma or rule. Where you are accountable for _everything_ you do. Whatever your feelings afterwards.

Sorry if it insult to your beliefs, but I can't understand how it is possible to be catholic seeing everything priests do? How it possible to be orthodox Christian seeing as patriarch of the church got his place by making church one of the major suppliers of alcohol and sigarettes in country... not mentioning lots of other things.

PS. I'm not trying to judje anyone.
PPS. If you claim to be Christian - BE Christian. It's not that hard. Actually of ten commandments 8 are redundant. Don't kill and don't judje are enough to cover the rest.

Nothing I disagree with there

Although the commandment is not to murder rather than not to kill.

But I consider that much wisdom can be had by perusing holy books. Some for what they say and some despite what they say. I don't write off people with religions provided they think not just follow dogma.
