Happy new year from the UK! ^_^

I guess you've got a few hours to go across the pond, but that's a bit more time to get pissed (when we say "pissed" in the UK, we mean "intoxicated" rather than "angry"). :D I've had at least six different kinds of booze in about five hours, and walking is somewhat tricky. I can still type coherently though. ^_^

*Lots of huggles and kisses and cheek nuzzles and soft-purring-in-the-ears and happy tail swishes for everyone*
and I don't need to remind you that you'd still be getting it all even if I were totally sober! =)

Oh, and

I had canapes. They didn't have prawns on, but they did have smoked salmon. It was held in place with creme fraiche, so in some ways I am the cat who got the cream. ^_^

WHEEEEE!!! ^_^ Extravagance!

Over here, depending upon the region, the traditional New Year's Day meal is hog jowl [a kind of bacon] greens, corn bread and black eye peas.

New Years Traditions: my ancestors were mostly German/Polish ...

with some Norwegian and little English, a tradition is to eat a little rye bread with pickled herring and ginger ale at midnight on New Year's eve/day.

Well I imagine it was more likely a... um... stronger beverage but this is the kiddie safe version WE were taught.
