Apparently they believe that succubi and incubi are real, can give mindblowing sex that no mortal can hope to achieve, and even lure you into homosexuality.
I discovered this courtesy of an article in AlterNet, but checking the original source, several commentators actually believe the message - and even believe that sleep paralysis is also a result (admittedly, some commentators try to point out sleep paralysis is perfectly natural, but the fringe evidently believes the afflicted should see a minister rather than a doctor...

I doubt you have "heard it all" even now. As the world rejects rationality and education in favor of religion and other superstitions along with the "I want mine now" attitude", you are going to see more of the same and worse. Often I am glad that I am of advanced age, as I really don't want to live through another "Dark Age". The 1950's McArthy era was quite sufficient, and even it wasn't as bad as what we are sliding into.

as the piece, nutters who'll believe anything and those who try to point out the errors of their thinking (or lack of it), loved the idea of double blind trials.
I was tempted to think, only in America, but sadly it seems to happen everywhere, the cause - possibly because our cultures are undergoing major change and people are scared, so they look for supernatural protection because they don't trust in governments. One of the problems with this sort of sickness, is that it's so easy to cast aspersions which the gullible believe and although they're impossible to prove (catching smoke)they're also impossible to disprove. Science is sometimes proved wrong and then has to rethink itself, religion is wrong most of the time and ignores the gainsayers, because god told them to - what a get out clause.
Rational thought is just that - rational, religious belief is based on emotional needs or experiences, which of itself is not bad, but it has to be seen as such not treated as fact.
I tend to treat religion as different from spirituality, religion is politics using god as an excuse to do what you like, spirituality, is believing in the best an individual or group can do for the betterment of everyone irrespective of anything - a bit like true feminism.

Wait a minute. If a demon comes along and PROGRAMS you, then the holy spirit comes along and REPROGRAMS you, how do you have any free will at all? And how did you find the free will to clean up the place? And if it's all predestined, why worry about it? I guess God and Satan are really keeping up with the times if they're coding! What programming language do you think you'd have to use to program a person? That's a good trick btw, cleaning your house to keep the demons out. I'm sure a lot of crystal meth addicts have discovered this one as well.
When some religious sects (like fundamentalist evangelical christians) hold such inflexible, absolute positions, some WEIRD logic starts to occur. Actually, should these views represent a monotheism? In a monotheism, the Deity is all powerful and all knowing. But if the Deity is all powerful and all knowing, then that means that all the horrible stuff that happens in the world is ultimately God's responsibility, and then God would appear... not very nice. So then I guess you can push all the bad stuff that happens onto a less powerful, but hateful and malevolent Deity, so God's nice again. But when you do that you get one of two solutions: A) Now there are TWO DEITIES (a Duotheism? Bitheism? my spell checker doesn't like either of those!) and the primary Deity is no longer all powerful, hence it's no longer a Monotheism, or B) The lesser, malevolent Deity is not actually a free agent, and is sort of a subcontractor for the primary Deity. The book of Job might actually support this argument! But then you're right back to having a not nice Supreme Deity that furthermore gets someone else to do the dirty work for him. So you get a Supreme Deity that's either sometimes very mean or just doesn't care. Or you just say that evil wasn't really evil in the first place.
Actually though, a Deity that played absolutely NO favorites, and loved all life (and everything else?) exactly the same, should just about exactly resemble a purposeless, uncaring universe. But if that were the case, this whole hell and damnation thing would be right out. Unconditional Love means just what it says.

Umm, come to think of it, little logic games like that ARE my antivirus software for the mind -for overly dogmatic, literal belief systems, anyway. If I had said something like that (see above) several centuries ago publicly, I would probably have been imprisoned, tortured, then burned alive. So I think we're making some progress!
In my most abjectly, pathetically, debasingly humble opinion (the abb. from now on for that will be: IMMAPDHO), one of the best christians ever to live wasn't a christian! Mohandas Gandhi (or Mahatma) was very familiar with the New Testament, and put it to very good use. He didn't seem to say much about the OLD Testament, though (wonder why?). Maybe because he WASN'T a Christian, he could take from it what he wanted and leave the rest (of the convoluted, embellished narrative). And the core of Christ's teachings seems to be a sort of compassionate pacifism. Oh Heresy! I called Jesus a pacifist! What will the neighbors say? Gandhi pioneered the use of nonviolence in politics (satyagraha), and in a very real way, influenced the American Civil Rights movement by way of Dr. Martin Luther King (who was a big fan of Gandhi's). But some people would have me believe that Gandhi is burning in hell at this very moment because he didn't go to the right church!
Anyone know where I can get a soapbox? One that you can actually stand on, I mean. They all seem to be made of cardboard these days.

and prevented the development and adoption of new technology and its associated improvements, a bit like the Catholic church tried during the Renaissance, he was also something of a womaniser.
