Murder on the Highway

I witnessed a murder today. It wasn't an accident, let there be no doubt about it. Before you get too worried; no, it wasn't a person, it was a young kitten. I was on Arkansas Highway 10 about four miles south of Perryville, Arkansas. This is a pretty good downhill stretch with a passing for the uphill traffic. I spotted a small animal moving slowly in the middle lane, and as I passed it, I realized it was a kitten, perhaps about 10 weeks old. It had long hair, a dark tail and head, and creamy long hair on its body. I pulled off the road about a hundred and fifty feet down hill and started walking back to the kitten I was about half way there when I heard a car coming up the hill. By this time the kitten was almost to the dotted line between the uphill lanes. I vigorously signaled for the driver to slow down. I know the driver saw me; however what happened next was beyond belief. The driver swerved across the line and deliberately hit the kitten. It was no mistake. I heard the thump.

I couldn't believe it. I remember hollering "No!" at the top of my voice as the car, a black SUV/crossover moved back between the lines and sped off. I was in shock and started sobbing like I haven't cried since I was in grade school. There was nothing I could do about it, and I felt so damn helpless. The little body was still there this afternoon.

I hope that person lives a long life before going to their selected hell. I hope they wake up every night feeling the terror that poor little kitten must have felt in the last seconds of its life. Why would anyone do something like that?

I'm thinking about going back and putting up a sign at that location that says "Kitten Murderer, You know who you are."
My heart aches tonight, and I will probably never get over this.

Kharma will happen. It's a fact: Newton's law is a proven thing for our universe - for every reaction there is an equal and opposite reaction. That driver will get their just rewards for doing that. Don't know when, but kharma for the kitten killer will happen, rest assured.

That kitten's life was not in vain. It meant something to you, and now, us. We will remember it in our hearts

Portia - I'm so sorry

I saved a kitten in the same kind of situation. I was lucky enough that I did not have to go through what you did.
What you saw today should never have happened and I cried when I read about it.

Monsters come in all sizes and shapes.

I hope that your pain gets better over time.

It's times like these

Why

How could someone be so heartless to take the life of a kitten that didn't even know what the danger was. What about the person who put the kitten there in the first place.R I P little kitty
SAD -RICHIE2

That's unsettling.

That monstrous act is beyond words. That this person will never be caught or be punished for their actions make it all the more terrible. That poor kitten. I feel for you having to witness it. Absolutely disgusting.

Hit me hard.

We just added two kittens to our household my self. Hearing this is just sickening to me and I am sorry that you as a sweet and sensitive person would witness such a despicable act. I always thought that people who can do such a act are simply a mass murder in training.

Our one salve for this emotional wound is that this is the days of instant Karma. And it is my hope that His karma runs over his dogma. There is an old Grok from Sweden Paraphrasing it "It is wrong to wish some one to the devil but you can always hope for the best."

Peace and Love.

Portia, I totally agree with

Portia, I totally agree with you. I have seen pets pass on to Heaven after being companion to me, or another. But have yet to witness such evil as you did.May that sweet kitten be awaiting you in Heaven.
