From the Trentonian:

Connor Ferguson is an 18-year-old male-to-female transgender student at THS, and thanks to the support of her friends and peers she was also this year's prom queen.

Caroline Rolf was one of those voting students, a prom attendee and fifth year student who acted as a surrogate date for Ferguson, wearing a leopard print vest and bow tie to match her full-length gown.

I voted for Connor because anyone who has been through as much as she has and still exudes so much class and confidence deserves a royal title, and not just on prom night,” said Rolf.

Clarification...

This is from Trenton, Ontario (pop. around 20,000) and not Trenton, New Jersey (~90,000).

Could it happen in the U.S.? Probably, somewhere. But in this case, it didn't.

Forwards

Of small victories is progress made.

I ddon't want to deminish the individual triumph: for Connor this must be a massive boost. In the global scheme of things it perforce looms less. However, as this case is the first such of which I have heard, this may be another barrier broken, incremental progress.

I wish you "Good Luck" Connor Ferguson, though I'm not sure you need that from me; you and your friends seem to be providing what you need.

We all deserve to be Prom Queens and I think everyone here is at least a Princess except Trapper who is a Prince

We are each exactly as God made us. God does not make mistakes!

Gender rights are the new civil rights!

Not really

The position of Prom Queen (and King) is a popularity/beauty contest. By those standards about 99.9999999999% of us do not deserve to be Prom Queens.
