Sorry if anyone's waiting for the next chapter of 'Midnight Angels' but I am a slow worker... I've fallen into a rhythm of writing it where I think about the chapter for a week or so before even starting to write it. I've been slowed a little as chapters 8 & 9 describe events on the same day, and I've been keen to make sure that they address some of the comments raised on the earlier two parts I've posted.
In the meantime I've been working on a story I wrote a few weeks back, that was already largely written, but I've added an extended resolution... I've also been paying a lot of attention to grammar, punctuation and sentence structure in it... on top of that I've started work on a short called 'Chirazjri' which I see as an Indian fairy tale; it's quite dark at heart as it concerns two Indian customs that Westerners (and many Indians) would consider barbaric - so it more Grimm than Disney :)
Then to complicate matters further I'm off (with my laptop) to Wales on the weekend, and staying until the New Year in deepest Gower, miles from the nearest WiFi hotspot, so I probably won't post until I get back to Hampshire... on the plus side I get two weeks away with few distractions to get in the way of writing.

worth the wait
Yes it's good that a story maintain a certain momentum but I'd rather have it done right, to the author's satisfaction, than have the author succumb to this GIMEE GIMEE NOW NOW mentality & just crank out any old stuff. A lot of my favorites here are posted only sporatically, but you can see the care that went into them, they're worth the wait. With my lousy memory, I often have to go back and skim the previous chapter if there's a month or so between (Or in the case of Edeyn's SK8R GRRLZ I reread all of Chapter 19 before embarking on 20, a re-read that turned out to be a real treat...). Some writers here are amazing in the pace at which they can turn out quality material, but every time I've posted a story hastily I have regretted it,
saw major improvements that coulda been made, and often had to go in and rewrite them on site.
The Indian fairy tale sounds interesting. It's such an amazing & beautiful culture in so many ways,
but some of their more monstrously sexist customs really burn me up!

Indian culture is so fascinating
and more so for me in the last year as I've been working closely with (officially mentoring) several Indian colleagues - so much so that I've been accused of going native :)
My story features two of the most monstrous customs(the treatment of hijira and sati), and taking a leaf from Kipling, does not judge them by Western standards... neither is dealt with in any detail, and only sati actually forms a part of the plot though. Some of the things described in European fairy tales are equally grotesque, but so romanticised we don't think about the reality (of course no one has sent their step daughter off to live dwarves recently, while there are still hijira, and still occasional cases of sati in India). Might be a bit contentious, hmm.
I'll pass on your regards Angharad if I get a chance, but I'm a native of North Gower's far less grand coastline with its North wind stunted blackthorn and mountain ash, and the wide sweep of Llanrhidian Sands... or as someone once wrote...

As we seem to have a convocation going it's a good time to ask something that's been on my mind a bit... do you know if anyone ever set a tg story against the backdrop of the Rebecca Riots? I fancy having a go, after all with all that running around in frocks some of the lads must have found it as enjoyable as 'sticking it to the man', if not more...
