the god of work

We had a lottery pool at work, to take a crack at the half-billion-dollar prize last night,
but oh well! We didn't win. Not even one of the lower-tier prizes.

Work has been a bit absorbing lately, but even so, I've been managing to put some time in each day
at writing. I decided to go back through everything I've written, to tweak it and fix places
that don't work as well as they should. I've gotten through most of my fairy tales, and have spent
many hours on "The Kinglet" -- which still seems to need a lot of help.

At the same time, I'm working on the next Marcie story, following that dictum Stick to what
you don't know anything about
. I'm having to do some more research, but have already begun
writing the first chapter and sketching out the rest. I think this one will be the most
exciting so far. At least it is for me. I will say that there are no dreams, no alternate
realities, no ghosts, etc. Marcie goes to Europe with Aunt Jane, and -- as the saying
goes -- hilarity ensues.

I'm very excited about this story.

I've also working on a short silly story about cake-based reality shows... it came to me
while driving (I was laughing so much I almost caused an accident). It should
appear in two weeks or so, unless the god of work decides to tighten the screws.
