I made a critical girl mistake that any rational woman would scoff at me for: I refused to buy my actual dress size. Yes, I'm one of those types. Sure I could have got that red A line in a 16 (XL) and probably had room to spare, but no, I went for 12 (L). My ego will not allow me to be a 16. So on go the spanx and in I will wedge myself and hope that the industry is also playing to my ego by having a size 12 actually be a 16. I know, I know it's shallow. I should just be comfortable, and not worry about numbers but man... no! I will not kowtow to my overindulgence. I've begun to think of it like Prom. Sure, I'll buy other more loose fitting en femme clothes if I don't manage to squeeze my organs into the LRD right away, but I declare here and now that I will drop some of these extra lbs and wear this dress proudly come May/June. Girl-side me that never got to go to prom the way she wanted demands it.

I've already given up soda and sweets, which really at my age was a no-brainer, what else can I do? The dread word exercise has been brought up by my wife. Ugh. I hate to sweat.

Have y'all been in this sitch' before?

Welcome to normal

9 years ago, I was less than 150, and wore Medium or Large, though on top I was a tight 10. Then when I got on Celexa, I grew to 205 lbs before I began to look for the reason. Well, I got off the drugs and am back down to 170, working to get down to 150 again. It is a real struggle; one that every woman fights.

Good luck

Insulin is like steroids

I've been doing insulin now for 15 years and my weight went up and my thyroid doesn't work. I have switched to a daily eating regimen that does not count calories, protein nor carbs. I am not on a diet I'm eating healthy, the weight is coming off and my blood sugar is begining to stabilize at around 100mgls. I once weighed 165 pounds and will be satisfied when I get to 180 as at 165 I could inhale and a medical professional could count my ribs both front and back.
Different manufacturers sizes vary. Thus the trying on of dresses, skirts and blouses at the store. The same goes for shoes. Clothing that has the tag One size fits all does not fit all contrary to popular belief.
I would love a red dress, or even a yellow dress, but for some reason if I wear red I look like I have jaundice, If I wear yellow I turn red. My favorite colors that do me well are the fall colors. My favorite colors are Pink, Purple, Perriwinkle, Peach and Plum. I do not buy clothes unless I can try them on. since I present as female 24/7 I have not problems in any of the places I go to shop.
I always tell people don't diet you set yourself up to fail, find a healthy food regimen and follow it to a tee, you will feel better, sleep better and have more energy no matter what your age.

don't diet...

You keep saying don't diet, but then you go and keep saying find a healthy food regimen... that's the definition of a diet.

You might not be following any of the (non)traditional diets that overemphasize one aspect of a good diet over others, but you ARE dieting. The only way you're not dieting is if you eat whatever you like whenever you like however you like. And then not doing enough hard labor to compensate.

Shoot, I pretty much eat what I want to, but my own body has always had built in diet-control, it was a little broken when I was depressed all the time, but it works quite nicely now.
