I have one, singular, pair of shoes that high. The bulk of my time, I am in flats. My point is that if I were wearing 4" heels I would be so aware of their presence I COULDN'T forget I had them on!

Lol, I suppose it runs in the family. (One of my cousins is a professional drag queen with a shoe and wig collection to die for)
I like heels, and if you want to wear heels then you really should wear them, so I do when I can. Washing dishes and sweeping even. Anyway it says a bit about me that I didn't realise until I was trying to rehang the silly thing.

My question...
Why do even womens work boots universally need to have at minimum a 1.5" heel? It's not that they're particularly hard to work in, but by the end of the day, the pads of my feet are killing me. Heels aren't really very sane for, you know, actually doing hard work. Especially for an 8 hour shift.

Actually, flats hurt my feet
Actually, flats hurt my feet if I'm standing for very long. I started having trouble with that in high school and could only relieve it by walking on my toes (something I've done a lot since I was quite small). Once I got heels I found that it wasn't nearly the problem it once was. Although it depends on the shoes and their fit, of course, but I find heels much more comfortable on the whole.

P.S. I have some boots with no heel at all. They're very warm winter boots with good traction for hiking, but I don't wear them very often because they're flat and my feet inevitably hurt (unless I'm not doing much walking or standing that day).

Ah, but those boots are very unlikely to be WORK boots. With all the hazard protections of a good, solid, work boot. Electrical, oil, slip resist, waterproof, reinforced toe, heel, and shank... I work. I need work boots.
I suppose flat or nearly flat work boots might exist, but I couldn't find any when I went looking recently.
