even though...
They aren't projecting for folks in the Great Lakes area to feel any effects, we always do. Wonder what it'll do to us this time. They usually wind up, as they ride up the coast, causing noreasters to develop in the eastern lakes and go rushing inland towards the western lakes. Always some nasty arse storms from that.

We get some rain and such,
But generally we don't see the effects as much in Western Michigan. Once in a while a storm has enough strength to cause a few severe storms or a tornado or two, but it's not that much. I don't expect anything from this one.

In NW Ohio, but we almost always see crap spin off the tail on these things.
Amazing what a difference less than a hundred miles can make.

Friends and family
I have close friends and family in coastal communities from SC to MA.
Hurricane Irene
I live in Delaware, forty miles from the coast, we are preparing for heavy winds and rain where I live. The coastal cities are evacuating, first the tourist have to go, then the general population.
I have been in several hurricanes, one of them our squadron went through the hurricane to get to where we needed to be for evacuation and aid the Carribean Islands. If you thinks its rough on land, be on a ship at sea within the hurricane.
I was in Wal-mart earlier and it was busy, I hear the manager say they had sold forty-seven pallets of water within four hours. I am fortunate if I lose power I can still use my fire place to cook meals with and I have enough water for three days. If it gets bad i can always drive up to Pennsylvania or Wilmington,Delaware to get more water.
