I was just browsing the net (could not sleep) and decided to check on new television shows for the Fall. ABC is having a "Some Like It Hot" comedy about two guys who find work by cross dressing.
This following is from ABC.COM and the link below takes you to a page about the show and a video. My first thoughts is that it seems syupid and won't last long

The Canned-Laughter People seemed to like it, they never once stopped laughing.
Maybe I'm not giving this delightful romp a fair chance to win me over,
but nor am I going to sample dog crap because ABC says it's yummy.
It's amazing how the minute or so of it I watched
managed to be nauseating on so many levels.
I'm surprised Charlie Sheen isn't in it.

Excuse me, but...
Am I suppose to be happy about this? In the tradition of 'RuPaul's' drag queen show, the popular media once more plays upon the most exaggerated and farcical aspects of cross dressing and splashes it about for nothing more than a good laugh.
I expect there will be lots of folks who enjoy this. Some may even laud the show as a great step forward. Me, I'd rather schedule a root canal then sit through a half hour show such as this.

Some don't think it'll work
Putting guys in drag for a comedy show for television certainly lets us see the mentality of the writers. In the real world, those two guys would be seen as guys in a dress. Their manly movements the falsetto voice may kill the show before the season starts.
This will set back any promise of acceptance, Jerry springer, Ru Paul and now some idiot writers conception of humor that doesn't do well for the transgender community.
I'd rather watch Ice Road Truckers than that garbage, and I am not a trucking fan.

The only thing high about this show I supect were the execs when they appored the plan.
"Far out dude, guys in dresses, Hillarious! ...Ooooh look at the colors. I... I can see sounds. Your face is melting dude..."
Never underestimate the taste of network TV or anything by Rupert Murdoc's people.

sounds about right. Mind you, they have to throw so many pilots out there, hoping one will be the next big hit, that they'll try almost anything. Its too bad they wouldn't consider a realistic, compassionate look at real transgender people, but then when would the canned laughter fit in, and that seems to be a requirement .....

I have to admit
We stopped watching the TV almost a yeart ago, and it really hasn't made a difference to us. I do use Hulu plus to watch the things that really interest me, but network TV? Goodbye.

Judging from the clip of the show,
this turkey won't make it beyond the second or third episode. This concept has been tried before, re:ASK HARRIET, with very little viewer applause. The only reason BOSOM BUDDIES, TOOTSIE and SOME LIKE IT HOT, had any success at all was because of the talents of the actors. ASK HARRIET had a modest success, but there was a pretty good cast involved as well.
I do agree with the commenters here that this show will be another slap in the face of transsexuals who are just trying as hard as they can to be who they believe themselves to be. Springer has done us no favors in that respect, even though it's accepted that ALL the people who appeared on his show were paid actors.
RuPaul however, IMHO, is a different breed of horse. She has made a name for herself and at least TRIES to carry herself well. I think most will agree that it's different for someone like her who at least tries to be who she believes herself to be. I'm sure this new show will be amusing to those who see us as freaks and weirdos but that won't carry it far.
Watching these two bozos teeter around in heels and speak in unconvincing manners will be torture for those of us who work HARD to carry off the image we present to the world. I MIGHT watch the premiere, but I doubt if it'll change my thinking.
Thanks network TV, for catering to another low common belief that men in drag are funny. (loaded with sarcasm) Try some believablity some time. It might not be as funny to some, but at least it wouldn't be an insult to a very large sector of the population.
My rating for this show? A dismal 1/2, and that's being generous.

Never heard of the show. So I just checked IMDb. Ask Harriet ran on Fox in 1998. It appears 5 episodes were shown and 8 never saw regular release.
Will this new turkey last any longer?
