We're back home again from our cruise, and I'm slowly catching up on my reading.
I did manage one new story idea and unblocked an existing one.
It's warm and sunny here in NW England so it looks like the great weather followed us home. We only had 2 days of rain in 72 so we did well.
What can I say about Alaska other than what a STUNNING place it is. Sitka was clean and friendly, Juneau was unique and Skagway was straight out of the gold rush. We loved Vancouver, Victoria, SF, Charleston, Newport and Antigua and our stay in New York could have been 2 months, not 2 days. And where else but Seattle could you find Vietnamese tea tasting outside of Vietnam?
Not a cheap holiday but a trip of a lifetime. Now, where shall I go next?
From Broadway to Skagway
Glad your trip was as fun as it sounded like it was going to be before you went. You've now probably seen more of the US than I have. Vietnamese tea/coffee houses aren't that rare in the western states; the first I saw were probably in the Little Saigon neighborhood in Orange County circa 1980, and now there's a few wherever the populace isn't totally brainwashed by STARBUCKS. There was even one that opened here in hicktown Reno, but it only lasted about a week:(

You missed some of the most amazing parts of Alaska - by only getting as far as Skagway. (Did you see the" golden nugget"? But, yes, it is a STUNNING place to visit! (We didn't get as much time on the cruise ship - but got to take the train from Skagway across the border into the Yukon; then saw Whitehorse, Yukon Territory; Tok, North Pole, Fairbanks, Denali & Anchorage, Alaska. But, whatever you see - Alaska is worth the visit!
Glad you enjoyed the visit. Have you been to California to see their midget Trees? (Sequoias & Coastal Redwoods) If not, seriously consider that (A tree 100 meters tall - and 10-20 meters in diameter is a tad impressive).

We only had a week
to see Southern Alaska including a seaplane flight over a glacier at Juneau, the breathtaking White Pass railway and the stunning glaciers at Yakutat Bay and Endicott Arm. A memorable trip.
If you start in the US I suppose you can spend longer in Alaska. And we did travel 28,500 miles in 71 days!

Although I really love Sitka! I keeps all of its Russian architecture and tradition and maintains a beautiful city.
The water of Sitka is awesome as well, drinking straight from the tap!
Sitka is one of my very favorite towns in Alaska!
One of the few places that still has architecture employing the upside down onion motif.
Of course, Seattle and Vancouver are the places to be... but don't tell anyone! (Remember, it is always raining and overcast... please do not move here!) roflmao
