First off I just want everyone to know I'm alive and well, my mother, aunt and grandmother all survived the accident. They are now recovering, and the one who was hurt the most, was my grandfather as he was the driver and came out without a scratch. He feels horribly guilty still, but I don't blame him. He couldn't help it, he had an episode while driving, it could happen to anyone. I just hope he finds peace in his heart to forgive himself.

Secondly mew I've found a wonderful man (who's currently made me angry right now, but hey who doesn't have fights?) who accepts me fully. Even is helping me to accept parts of my body I previously couldn't. It's become final now, I can never have SRS due to my heart problems and thank God Davie is there to help me get through this.

Third is my philosophical question. Sometimes... I find it hard to refrain from posting mew when I see stories that break reality but at the same time sometimes it doesn't bother me at all. I almost hit the post button when sending to an author about how difficult it is to achieve a black belt in martial arts, and how if you don't start early consider yourself crap for the most part. (It was some story on FM or something) Or just... how irrealistic her/his world was. Do you ever find yourself having trouble keeping your lip zipped, or are you able to most of the time? Sometimes I can, sometimes I cant and I usually feel bad when I cant meow.

Anyway, sorry for the long list, but it's just because I haven't posted an update in a while, I'm sorry I left you all in the dark. I was in a dark place, and went through... a lot that I'd rather not mention right now. Anyway I hope you all are well meow, have a wonderful night/day/afternoon ^^

I am glad...

...to find that things have turned the corner for your family. I am sorry for your sake that things haven't turned out as you had hoped for, but I understand about hope deferred or even set aside. I do struggle with being candid at times, and my passion outraces my sense of patience and even humility. Thank you for sharing how you are; I am glad to see you.

Happy to see you around!

I'm so sorry that you cannot do anything more to make yourself whole physically, but perhaps you can find happiness with understanding. I hope your disagreement won't last much longer, and that you both find forgiveness. My counselor tells me that sometimes, you just need to let things go, and I keep telling him that sometimes, I just don't wanna! Good luck, and peace!

Willing Suspension of Disbelief

Some (many) stories rely on a thing called "willing suspension of disbelief." Because the real world is often not as exciting as the imagined one. So, real spies lead lives not nearly as glamorous as James Bond, archeologists don't find working deathtraps in thousand-year temples like Indiana Jones, Batman shouldn't recover from wounds as quickly as he does (or even be able to fight in that getup), cowboys rarely got involved in gunfights etc. But we accept those, because the story is more fun that way.

What's an acceptable departure from reality for one person may be not acceptable to another. Knowing the subject too well does make it harder. But if physicists can enjoy Star Trek, it's not impossible.

If you really feel that the reality-violation is too much to take in the context of that story, you might bring it up with the author. Taking your own example, achieving a martial arts black belt. If the story aims to be realistic, yes, you do have a point. A big point. But if it's borderline-fantastic adventure, just ignore the absurdity and enjoy the fun parts.
