Road to Myself - 14: Meeting Folks
Annette MacGregor

When one meets folks your daughter's friends and even Professors, it can be a bit stressful - at least it can, if one is still not sure whether you pass well or not.

Yesterday, my older daughter was inducted into the National Psychology Honor Society (Okay, yes, I'm a proud parent.)... She wanted me to be me. Not only that, some of her friends (that knew my story) and her favorite professor were looking forward to meeting her two moms. (Her words - not mine!)

As it turned out, none of her friends (that knew about me) made it... Instead, she introduced her parents to others of her friends, and not a one so much as gave a double glance. Her professor was quite nice, as well. Quite a nice feeling - being among so many people and not getting a single strange look. :-) (There may have been a few, but since I didn't see them why don't we just pretend they weren't there... Okay? LOL)

One surprise, though. There WAS someone there that knew the "male" me - from our church. There's at least an even chance he didn't recognize me - as he wasn't sure about my daughter who he knew better. And, while she was sitting with us - he apparently didn't notice her until she walked up to him and said hello. So far, I've not gotten a note or query from him (he's a friend on Facebook) so, perhaps he didn't add 2+2 (Guess the math was to easy - he was a math major when he was in Uni...) and come up with me.

More is coming down the pike. I suspect that after next Monday I'll have more to say. Why? Well, I'll tell you... If you recall from my previous blog, I'm out to my pastor. As he's leaving, he's talked to his successor. The three of us will be meeting next Monday afternoon, to discuss the future, my need to transition in the next year and how that could impact the church and such... Do I have some nervousness? Yes. Am I looking forward to it as well? Yes. As I say, I may have a word or two more to share after that event. Wish me luck. :-)

Thanks for listening (okay, reading).
Anne
