There was a story, Procrustean Petard I believe, that involved a planet that changed the males to female and vice versda, and added something to the alpha male (strongest or whatever). I want to say it was Star Trek New Voyages 2. This was back in high school, so around 30 years ago or so

that sounds right. it was very well written. some of the earliest professionally sold fan fiction.

Could you give us a link,
Could you give us a link, Stanman? This sounds like an interesting book, but when I search this title, the only links google gives are to the orignal novel series #61, "Sanctuary", which doesn't mention any TG themes.
