Road to Myself - 12: You say WHAT?
Annette MacGregor

I thought my bras fit, okay... I was certainly not unhappy with the size.

Why do I say that? Well, yesterday afternoon, I went bra shopping (with my wife & older daughter) to Nordstoms. My wife needed a new fitting (Losing weight can & did change things a bit), and I got a professional fitting, myself.

Okay, I heard from a few others how professional the fitters can be. This one acted like I was any other lady (If you've seen my other blogs about not always passing...). My daughter told her it was my first professional fitting, before I had a chance to open my mouth. LOL She was very helpful... And, it turns out that I was off on my bra size. (Which explained a few issues I'd had, more later.) The first bra she brought was a tad large (No, I don't need a 40... But then, she measured OVER my blouse, so I give her some thing there. She did say she was confirming cup size with that.)... But most of the rest fit.

Basically, her's how it went, for the three or four that may have gotten this far, haven't been through it, and are interested. She measured around my chest - below the girls - that's it. She guessed cup size from looking... She then went out, and got a first bra with an "average" cup size. I tried that one one - and we agreed the band was a bit large/loose but she hit the cup right on. Next, she went and got three more bra of different styles, in my approximate size. I tried each on and she helped adjust them. (It turns out, I was wearing the band too high - in the back. LOL She said this wasn't a big issue with my cup size, but had I been larger it would have been.) We talked about how each fit, and what else i was looking for - style size, and she went and got some more. I kept trying each one on -and going back and forth... Quite an experience. Oh, and somewhere in there, I tried on one that was a band size smaller. It worked - but was just a bit binding/tight. She said that, yes, I could get used to it, but it would be distracting and not comfortable for all day wear. So, until I lose more weight I'll stay where I am.

To make a short story (okay, not so short) longer, I was in there shopping - for just shy of two (2) hours! As my bra size was wrong... With the encouragement of my wife & daughter, I purchased four (4) new bras... (Thank you mom and dad - for the monetary gift at Christmas. You may not have thought I'd be spending it on bras, but thank you anyway!)

The rest of the evening, my daughter and I introduced my wife to Macaroni Grill... We all had a wonderful meal... And, the wait staff was always nice. (May I help you Ladies? Would you ladies like an appetizer? And, you, ma'am? etc...) That felt good too! The food - YUM. We all got variations of kabob's on grilled veggies. (One Salmon, one Shrimp and one Beef.)

Yes, I had a wonderful afternoon and evening - being myself and for all intents and purposes being taken as myself. (No strange looks, no double takes, nothing! Yes, it felt GOOD!)

My actual bra size? It turns out that I'm a 38 C. (Yes, that's C as in charlie!) I'd have preferred being a 36, but that will come as I lose weight... But, a C! One place I won't need surgery!!!

Thank you for the dozen of you that got this far. I hope I didn't disappoint.

Thanks for listening (okay, reading).
Anne
