I'm still going to try to get into the clinic today, or wangle an emergency appointment with an eye doctor, through the V.A. I want to thank everyone who expressed concern and gave advice over the weekend. It wasn't pleasant to not be able to read or drive, I can tell you that.
I'm still just a bit blurry, but not NEARLY so much as Saturday or yesterday when all I could see out of my left eye was an image that reminded me of a badly out of focus picture or an extremely "soft focus" scene in a movie.
It might not seem so bad to some of you that only one eye was affected, but my right eye has never been of much use when it comes to my daily life. It takes in images, light and color, but seems incapable of reading unless the print is EXTREMELY large and black. It's almost as if it had never been trained as to what those letters spell, otherwise. 3D does nothing for me at all, although I have no problems with depth perception.
Anyway, rest assured that I AM going to get this checked out. It has happened before a couple of times, but only lasted for a day. One day I could live with. Two days, or more, is NOT acceptable!
Thanks again for your concern. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas.
Huggles from,
Cathy

I really do wish you well with this
I don't have to imagine sight loss; I've been there.
My left eye hardly ever worked and died altogether in 1973. My right eye gave up in 1996 and being completely blind for a few weeks was no fun; you feel rather stupid bouncing off walls - literally.
I now have restricted peripheral vision, a reading distance of 8 inches and an assurance that "if it doesn't get worse, it will probably stay the same." You have to laugh sometimes!
I suppose that, to a large extent, what you don't have, you don't miss. I do, however, have a young friend who has never seen her husband and her beautiful 6 year-old daughter. Now that MUST suck!

Good to hear
it is easing up, but make sure you get into the docs, don't let them give you the run around. Macular degeneration, cataracts, or a retina problem is NOTHING to screw with. I truly hope it is something simple.
Your vision and health
This is something to get checked ASAP!!! I am an optometrist and checking eyes is what I do. What you are describing is very possibly a stroke within the eye or a transient ischemic attack or TIA within the brain. Please get this checked out yesterday!!! It could very well be an indicator of a very serious underlying health problem!! Please DO NOT ignore this.
