Looking for ideas on something to do while stuck in the hospital. Armed with my trusty blackberry, I can do basic browsing and text editing. Hard to do with one hand though. Cat bites suck when you have no immune system :(
So, any suggestions on things to do? Vicodin is helping a little, but still have a nasty headache that won't go away

I know from cat bite!!!
My left hand swole up and turned purple from the bruising. I was on iv antibiotics everyday for a week and my immune system was working fine!!! Wouldnt wish that on anyone.
Now what to do in hospital armed only with a blackberry. You could learn a new language, a new cereberal skill, design a web page, write your memoires, browse the library of congress, talk with friends. Your blackberry is a gateway to thousands of things to do
Including movies!

I totally forgot movies on here, just got this one end of July (9700 Bold). I may try to write a small fever induced story I dreamed of the other night.
Btw, did you have any lasting damage? I ask because my latest mri showed "tendon and ligature damage." (I think the term was ligature). Supposed to get another test today, a bone scan of some kind; they just want me to glow in he dark when I leave :P

Nope no damage
My cat jumped into my room through the cord that adjusts the blinds and ended up hanging by a back leg I had to reach into the mess of teeth and claws and untangle her. She must have bit me 8 or more times... and not the polite don't do that nips either.
I have no noticable damage other than a bunch of round white scars in pairs... which are only really noticable during the summer when my hands get tanned.
Nobody.
Something to do with one hand?
If this query was on any another tg site, the answer would be obvious - although in hospital it might be a little awkward if not antisocial.
Well, depending upon how long you'll be there and the state of your battery, but you could start reading one or two serials; you could give kudos to back issues of favourite stories; reposition military satellites, revise the complete works of Shakespeare or even order a book on the internet.
Whatever you do, I hope it's to get well soon to a full recovery.

Are you thinking what I am thinking? No more satellite repositioning, thankyouverymuch! The nice gentlemen in dark suits and darker sunglasses wouldn't care for that again...
May just have dad grab the latest book on string theory since I finished the one of einstein's original theories and Stephen Hawking's latest stuff. Or maybe I can get them grab one of my laptops and watch cosmos again.

Unfortunately though, I can't offer any advice beyond what has already been suggested, but I did want to wish you well. I hope you're back to 100% soon!
What to do
I suppose I should be something of an expert with 20 hospital stays in the last five years, but every time I come up empty on what to do.
Since you have the means, I would suggest you look into e-books and do some reading. For science fiction, you might try www.baen.com; for classics and out of copyright try Project Gutenburg (http://www.gutenberg.org).
For general books, try Barnes and Noble's Kindle site on Amazon, which has free and for sale books. I can't believe myself, but I downloaded Thoreau's "Civil Disobedience" for free. Though it not what I usually read for pleasure it was actually an entertaining and interesting read. And yes, I am a little twisted.
Apart from reading, There's always television, conversation with your roomate - if you have one, and of course the games on your Blackberry.
You may also try chatting with your nurses or other staff. They "have to" be understanding - at least I've never encountered a trans-phobic while incarcerated in the Horsepiddle. Quite frequently I've found that if you are pleasant to them, they will do their best to make your stay pleasant. They get so many people who are just bitchy because of whatever they are there for, and pain doesn't help. If you can be pleasant through your own pain and discomfort I've found it more than pays for itself in the attitude of your medical staff.
For myself ? When I go in, I generally take a laptop and do some writing, I've only been in one hospital with internet, but I expect that to change. An mp3 player (your blackberry) and some DVD's I've wanted to watch but haven't.
Then of course there is sleep. I can't recommend it too highly. I generally try to catch up on all the beauty sleep I can (I need all the beauty help I can get!). It's cheap, it's easy, and it makes the hours fly by. It's also beneficial to the healing process.
Of course if you can schedule friends to drop by, or even surprise you!! that helps a LOT.
That about does it for my guide to passing the time in the Hospital. I hope you make speedy process and the healing goes well.

Thank you for the prayers, they really do help. And sorry for the delay, overdid things earlier and hand/arm started hurting. Nurses gave me 2 vicodin and I kinda went to sleep.
My mom and dad are coming up later and will get my laptop for me along with my cosmos dvd's. And St Mary's here has wifi but I am thinking BCTS might be blocked.
The night shift staff are not as talkative as those on days, and there is a mennonite patient care tech who was willing to discuss her religion; thoroughly fascinating!
As for sleep in a hospital, forget it. All I get are catnaps. Although I did manage about 5 hours last night in between disturbances (blood draws, blood sugar, meds, etc), probably thanks to. The vicodin. I was interrupted 6 times trying to write this... Sigh
Make that 7, and my train of thought has been totally derailed...
