To everyone that I have your e-mail address. If you have gotten SPAM E-mail with my address as where it came from, I'm sorry as some how and it is not only my address but someone has gotten into MSN's web site and has stolen these addresses off their site as this info is on their site not my computer. I've had this address almost ten years now and I have complain to Microsoft several times about this but it seems to go nowhere with them. I know I've had several friends that have said they have had to drop their addresses and start new ones because of this! Richard

Spam on Yahoo, too
I had a problem like that in my Yahoo mail account and took it to Norton. They solved some of it and then one of my roommates said just change your yahoo password. Mine is now 14 characters and the problem seems to have stopped. Originally, I think that linkedln's servers got infected, and that started the whole mess.

If you have the slightest inclination that your email account has been 'hacked', the most sensible advice is to change your password asap.
But also bear in mind that some spammers have the ability to forge 'from' headers, making it look as though the email has come from your account but it hasn't. And obviously, never open any unsolicited attachments. Most malware doesn't directly harm your computer, but a favourite tactic is harvesting your address book and adding the contents to the malware authors' mailing list.
If you can remember the difference between them, it's worthwhile grabbing a free webmail account for dealing with companies that insist on you providing an email address, and if a form demands an email address but will never send you any worthwhile emails, try no . spam @ plea . se (without the spaces, obviously!) - it's perfectly valid but AFAIK the admins of the domain file everything sent to that address in /dev/null.
