, and it nearly gained many hits more that my Duelist of Time has in the same time frame.
Is it that this story could be better than Duelist of time

Perhaps,
a better explanation is that more people were enticed into opening it from the category tags or intro?

No clue...
...as to their relative quality, really. Carla Ann pretty much hit it on the head, as far as my reasons: I'm pretty much entirely uninterested in Yu-Gi-Oh. It's not that I hate it or even dislike it, I'm just not at all interested, and so as a result I never attempted to read Duelist of Time. Nothing personal or anything, just not interested in the subject material.
Rising Dawn, on the other hand, is a supers story which does interest me, which is why it's open in a tab, waiting to be read. ^__^
It happens.
If you can figure out a consistent, reliable model as to why and how it does, you can start making the really big bucks. ^^; (And will have learned a whole ton of interesting, high-end modeling mathematics, which is a plus in itself!)

Another possibility...
Another possibility is day of week/time of day... I've noticed that postings at different times seem to garner more hits than at other times. The same is true of different days of the week.
Yet another factor - the longer a document is in the top several the faster they accumulate hits. (Not all users are willing to scroll down the page.)
<bad joke>In any event, why are you complaining about a lot of hits? Odds are, lots of hits here will boost the hits on your other story(s) too.</bad joke>

I love that word!!
Flabbergasted, Flabbergasted, Flabbergasted! It just makes me smile!
Thanks!

How about
People here are old enough to get into comics they might remember, but card dueling is from my grandson's generation?
