National Novel Writing Month
November 1st—30th: Thirty days and nights of literary abandon
National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.
Further details are available on the NaNoWriMo Website.
Well, I've taken the plunge and signed up for this as PS.in.NZ.
Is anyone else who frequents BCTS signed up, or planning to?
If so, would you like to consider buddying as a form of support?

I wish I had the time..
I wish I had the time for such an endevor... The only thing I did was submit a short story to NPRs "3 minute fiction" contest. (Almost didn't submit there... What's one more piece of dribble among 4,000 entries. LOL)
Best luck to you.

Not me :-)
I tried the style with Aria Blade and it kind of ... flopped. I'm still working on the last chapter so I can lay that storyline to rest. I enjoy a chaotic writing style, but NaNoWriMo is a little TOO chaotic for me ^_^
I do absolutely wish everyone who gets involved the best of luck though. You're braver than I :-D

Thinking about it
Though lately my ability to get any writing done has been awful, as seen by the what, month long hiatus already in PFH?
Yes, I have reverse evolved into the dreaded Suckosaurus, known from the Cretaceous period for missing deadlines, forgetting promises, and not returning phone calls.
Still, I'm planning something for both NaNoWriMo and the October story contest, as well as finishing the first part of PFH ASAP.

I'd love to but-
One, I don't think I am anywhere near that good!
Two I am definitely not that fast. and
Three, I'm still busy working on the story that Melanie gave me the idea for!
I might try it next year, though. I AM trying to come up with an idea for the halloween story contest. We'll see.

Too scared to try!
I wouldn't feel like I fit in, though part of me would really love to see what I'm able to write, given such a daunting objective. Thanks for posting this anyway.

NaNoWriMo
50,000 words is only 1,666 per day. If you took a voice recorder and spoke into it at an average speaking rate of 130wpm to 170wpm, you'd only have to talk for ten to fifteen minutes a day to come up with 1,666 words per day. That's why a lot of writers -- especially those with slow fingers -- sometimes find it easier to dictate their books for transcription and correction.
The thing about NaNoWriMo is that it doesn't matter how you get there, only that you do.

Waiting for National Haiku Writing Month
Although last year I didn't quite finish my entry for that either (Damn!).
It's not so much writer's block as some weird relativistic distortion of time,
where a month zips by back on Earth while I'm still shaking weevils out of my keyboard.
All I can do is wish you luck, and do wanna have a look at whatever you've created for it, TG or not...
~~~hugs, Laika
done all that last month. I need some muse input to do it again.....
Or was that booze input?
50,000 Words Is
A pretty short novel. I'm quite sure there are dozens of writers here who could meet that goal if they had an interesting story idea to spur them on.
Congratulations Edeyn. You never cease to amaze me with all your accomplishments. I love your title. Do you at least believe in Dog?
I tried...
NaNoWriMo Update
Well, I managed to win. My novel was at 50,745 words (according to MS Word) when I submitted, but the NaNoWriMo computer only recognised 50,385 of them. In my part of the world, there were just over six hours left, when I submitted.
I've had some significant help from some people here, so thanks Gabi and Angharad. I couldn't have done it without you.
My novel's set in The Professor's Deity Arms universe. I was worried about whether I had enough ideas to make the target. Now, it looks like I'm going to need another two or three chapters to tie up all the story lines. When everything's done and dusted, my plan is to publish it here.
