I suppose using such a story title for so long was tempting providence - so today, I did just that, fell off my bike. I have two rather painful knees, but at least I've stopped the bleeding now.
As the time goes on I'm finding some new bruises and aches and pains, including my left wrist and thumb - both of which I've injured before.
The concern of motorists is breathtaking, they just drove past while I'm standing at the roadside dripping blood everywhere. Thankfully, I was out with friends, so managed to get home and do some first aid to myself.
I hope the fictional component will continue tonight, depending upon how much things hurt - at present, like hell.

...you survived, with (relatively) minor injuries. That's the important thing.
As for the motorists ignoring you, it's just a sad sign of how self-centred society has become. It's Somebody Else's Problem. And it's not just cyclists vs motorists. A few months ago in New York, a homeless man was left to bleed and die in the middle of a pavement after being attacked while stopping a mugging. It's happened over here as well.
And a couple of years ago, also in New York, a hit and run victim was ignored by pedestrians and motorists until a police officer on another call arrived.

i too fell off a bike the
i too fell off a bike the other week, pedestrian running into my path from behind a lorry.
as happened twice before when i had (minor) traffic accidents, there was an ambulance nearby and the paramedics scrambled to help me.

I am so glad the bike is fine, but I feel I must bring this reference in, possibly the worst case I have read in years. There is even more to this story, but I will not put that bit on the web. Suffice it to say that some people connected with the killer have some very warped priorities.

Having hit the Tarmac myself ...
... a few times and know what it's like, you have my very best wishes, Angharad. Even a minor tumble can be very unsettling and the callous attitude of passing motorists is a sad reflection on society. Though I must say both my wife and I have been helped by motoring strangers at various times so they're not all like that. Perhaps the fact you weren't alone made them think everything was under control.
Not such a sad reflection as the story posted by Cyclist which is in many ways similar to what happened when my friend was killed by a hit and run drunk. When caught he was jailed for a couple of years and given a relatively short ban when it should have been a lifetime one, at least. He showed no remorse at all.
Delighted your bike will be OK after a little treatment for PTSD. Perhaps a little extra helping of oil for its chain and one of something stronger for you might be in order. You must be enjoying better weather than we are because we weren't tempted out awheel today but managed a sedate 50 miles on Wednesday.

Cycling isn't a sport it's an adventure.
Motorists can be good some of the time. I bike but not on the cyclists level just a mountain bike but there is still really no respect for bikes on the roadways. Even worse we have lovely off road trails where you get to be assaulted by the guys on the sport ATV's who think they own them. Then there's joggers who I know have complaints about us too but I've never tried to run down someone but many have run out in front of me. I've lots of crash scars and have been hit twice by motorists. Injuries are part of biking but still suck getting them, I hope you feel better soon.

You don't say how you came to fall off your bike. Was it easy? Was it caused by the infamous clipless pedals we regularly read about in the fiction of the same name?
Maybe you're saving the gory details for a future episode of EAFOAB?
Please look after yourself. If there's a bright side, it sounds as if all your bones are intact and that your bicycle will live to go another day.

How did you manage to injure both knees without any upper body injuries. You must have tried flying or something, over the handle bars or summat.
Usually when I land, it's upper body first (Like this last time with the ol'e clavicle trick!)
On a more serious note though, firstly I'm glad your injuries weren't more serious, it's risky enough on a bike anyway.
It's now a case of lots of Ibuprofen, a friendly puss, and oodles of sympathy, (you've got mine,.

I'm very glad you survived the incident. It's kinda sad how motorists seem to not really care about people on bikes (Far to many "joke" about running them down. *sighs*).
I had my own cycling "brush" with a car, to much less damage to me. I saw the car coming, and avoided it... But, hit the curb (ruining the wheel), fell off & bunged the shin & opposite knee. But, as I said, I was lucky - not too much blood. And, the bike shop was only a mile away, So I walked it there (on the rear wheel) to get fixed, before riding home, to take care of me. (Priorities important).
(BTW - The motorist in question was a local deputy sheriff in his police car - going the WRONG way on a one way street. He stopped a car going the right way shortly after I had my accident. Not a single person (even another cyclist) stopped to check how I was doing. *sighs*)
