I-Dosing: How teenagers are getting 'digitally high' from music they download from internet.
At last, vindication for those of us who suspect the Daily Wail's science reporting isn't all it's cracked up to be.
They've published a story about a phenomenon called I-Dosing, which they claim to be A Bad Thing TM.
However, as this article points out, they've fallen victim to a hoax that's been trawling the 'net for a few years now (and also caught the Huffington Post out). Another article points out that binaural sounds can't alter your mental state at all - any effect is placebo. The Telegraph and BBC aren't fooled - but the BBC does note that several sites offering the tones also offer "legal highs", so could potentially be used as a "gateway" into illegal drugs. But then again, surely the kind of teens who'd be interested in "legal highs" already have the potential to search for illegal highs?

Lady Gaga for Traffic Jams!
Once in a while I get caught out on a freeway that suddenly becomes a parking lot. Rather than get antsy and tense, I have discovered that I can digitally space out, by listening to Lady Gaga at full volumne with the base set high. I've had more than one college kid give me the thumbs up here in Muslim land. Imagine the picture of a woman properly covered, and sitting behind the wheel doing the sultry dances that she does, or yes, even belly dancing if we stop!
The music oso soothing!

Psychology
Interestingly enough, I just finished a psychology class where we had a quick discussion about this near the end. They pretty much flat out said there the "high" you can get by listening to certain sounds was a load of hogwash.
Haha
Yesterday, when I read about these wacky kids thinking they get high from sounds, which is called, hilariously, I-dosing.... I laughed so hard I blew my tray of pot all over my keyboard.
