I have been doing battle the last two days trying to get two of my meds refilled. I have had to deal with the nurse for my Endocrinologist. I have been so frustrated with her I could scream! She interrogated me up one side and down the other about why I needed the refills. I have dubbed her "Nurse Nightmare, because it is a real nightmare dealing with her . I told her that my prescriptions were expired. She kept arguing that I couldn't be out of refills. The doctor put five refills on there, but there is no way that I use five vials in a year. Since I didn't, the prescription expired one year from the date it was written, which happened to be this month. Now I can't get it refilled until I see my doctor on August 6th. I will be without my injectable for two weeks more, because of her. Arghh!!!!!!!!

Refuse to leave until you see your Doctor..this person seems ignorant of how prescriptions work (nurse might not be the proper term for her)...

If you can go first thing in the morning and make it clear you HAVE to have your meds and you'll wait for the Doctor so you can TELL him you're out and have tried to get them.
If the nurse doesn't take care of if right away, at least the doctor will know of your situation!

This Nurse Was A Holdover
This nurse was a holdover from my previous Endo. He retired last year and my new doctor took over for him. She is a very good doctor, but the nurse is scatter brained. I just wish that we could all be on the same page. All my doctors are women and I wouldn't have it any other way. I put up with my Male GP's attitude for too long and I finally said enough is enough last year.

It's early in the morning here so I'm probably not using all the grey stuff in my head, but if you want to get around nurse Ratchet...
Send your doctor a letter about the problem by courier service. Mark it private/confidential and require a signature confirming delivery 'from the doctor' only.
Most people are curious about stuff delivered that way and I'd bet that the doctor would open it immediately... I know I would!
Anyhow, I wish you good luck.

Make sure
Make sure your doctor knows about the anguish this extra officious nurse has put you through, and in no uncertain terms. If she is not gone post haste, find a new doctor with a better staff. I had that happen also, but not due to the doctor, rather it was an insurance company problem. By the time I finished screaming and crying over the phone working my way up the ladder, after being with out my E for a week and a half, I got a letter of apology from the insurance company and I have had no further problems from them over any prescription.
I had a friend visiting, and she came into the house from a short trip and found me sitting in tears, and asked what was wrong. All I could do was wail "I don't know", and she started laughing and said "Now you know what hormonal moods are!" :)
