Well, it's good for dogs at least!

The Wisconsin team tested the health-giving properties of stout against lager by giving it to dogs who had narrowed arteries similar to those in heart disease.

They found that those given the Guinness had reduced clotting activity in their blood, but not those given lager.

So next time you go to the pub, order a pint of the black stuff for your pooch! :)

(Never mind the strange things some scientists choose to research - and the creatures they use in their research...)


Meanwhile, also in health news, a study's been published on the subject of loneliness.

In a poll of 2,256 people, nearly 60% of those aged between 18 to 34 questioned spoke of feeling lonely often or sometimes, compared to 35% of those aged over 55. Technology can be a double-edged sword - on the one hand, it enables people to make connections they might not otherwise have made, and virtual friendships can evolve into real-life friendships. On the other hand, it can also serve as a replacement for face to face interaction.
