Hi Everyone. Well today was a interesting day. I went on my first date. Thats right. I'm 28 and today was my first date. Kinda pathetic huh. I met a guy through a gay dating site. He contacted me first and we have been talking every day during the week since. we went out today. He's a great guy, but I just dont know what to do,say or how to respond to so many things when on a date. I'm not even all that comfortable being affectionate with people. He is a very affectionate person and it throws me off my game sometimes. we went for a walk and then we went for pizza. We went to the mall for a while to kill time before our movie started. We saw the Losers. Great movie by the way. He was very affectionate during the movie holding my hand and rubbing it with his fingers. I tried to make myself relax and enjoy it. I did enjoy it, it was a great turn on but this also confused me more. We went to a couple more places after the movie and just sat and talked alot. He is alway complimenting me and I'm not good at accepting compliments. Well I got home around 9:30pm. The date started at noon. we talk for a minite in his truck and before I got out he kissed me. It was my first kiss. It was interesting to say the least. It was really good and it certainly got my motor going, but I felt bad cause I did not know what I was doing.

I guess I'm just scared. I've met someone. He likes everything about me. He knows about my being trans and he's cool with it. I just wish that I was not so confused about my feeling and knew for certain what I wanted. I wish I could be more confident and affectionate.

Oh well. I guess thats enough for now.

Goodnight everyone.

first date

hun, it takes time to be confident and affectionate, and it sounds like you did just fine for a first date. next one will be a bit better, and every one after that will help you feel more secure.

Don't feel bad...

I never dated until I was well into my twenties -- and I didn't have any gender issues to deal with. It was pure shyness and awkwardness.

If you both enjoyed yourselves, mark it in the win column.

So, congratulations on a successful and enjoyable date. The fact that it lasted for nine and a half hours is a real plus. How many dates last for that long? How many first dates last for that long?

Smile and try to put your insecurities to rest. It's hard, I know. It gets easier, though.

By the way, the way to handle compliments is to smile and say "Thank You," whether you feel comfortable about it or not. Whatever you do, don't argue about it. That's the physical strategy. Emotionally, just let it soak in and smile. It gets easier.

It Is Normal To Be Nervous

It is normal to be nervous on a first date because you are trying to impress your date but sometimes you can try too hard the first time. I think that when you go out again, you will start to feel more comfortable because the first one is out of the way. I am glad you are getting out and doing things.

Hugs,

Jen
