There used to be a popular stories, current and all time link whatsit on the right. Is the removal to do with the other problems?
By the way, I think that Erin and and Bob have done wonders to keep things going; a lesson to another, not so good but well known site which went down for slightly longer.

Shall I put the popular stories thingie back? I'll have to do surgery on it since it used the votes and they aren't available now, so it will just be based on hits.
Personally, I never liked it.

To be honest, I don't miss it, nor do I remember ever using it. I don't use "popularity" to determine what I'm going to read.

While I think the votes thing was done with good intention, I also think that it caused undue pain to the writers here who attract a relatively narrow audience.

Actually I like to think I attract a "quite nice-looking" audience, maybe even a "sexy" audience, now that I think about it.
Although some of them might be striving to become a bit thinner, I can't imagine any of them want to be considered "narrow".
