Wel, I told my Church, and a Church Member came and repaired the broken door so that we can lock it, again and he also added a slide bolt.

Now I feel more secure at night. Having a bunch of thugs to break in and threaten you is disturbing, to say the least. Me, or my brother could have been shot. Me, am suffering from a crisis of Faith. I KNOW that GOD SAVED us from harm, but now I a filled with an anger, an anger that scares me. Please, if I sound off kilter, let me know, it might be me dealing with my ordeal.

People have a choice; do good or do evil. The burglars did evil; your church member did good.

Two aspects of humankind that don't seem to want to change are the need to control others and wanting something for nothing; you both happened to be in the way. I can't imagine what it must be like facing someone with a weapon who doesn't care if you live or die as long as they come out on top.

You may believe that your God gave Jesus to die for our sins, but sin still goes on. Humankind is a flawed animal, and often shows everyone just how flawed.

You can either batten down the hatches and sit there totally protected against everything you can see, and some things you can't, or you can grab life by the scruff of the neck and say 'FU mate, no one stops me living'; I chose the latter.

Sorry if this sounds a bit simplistic but even with severe visual impairment, dodgy blood, liver disease and hearing loss, I'm not yet ready to give up. I've at least 30 years' pension to draw in order to break even, so I'll be darned if I let some AH with less brains than a house brick tell me what I can and can't do.

OK, I'll get off my soapbox now. Don't let the bastards grind you down.

I got MAD when it happened. So, I won't let them scare me.

There Has Been An Increase In Crime

jengrl's picture

There has been an increase in crime across the country. Drugs Abuse and a poor economy has been a major driving force behind it. Oxy Contin and Meth Amphedamine abuse are causing people to do stupid things like bursting into homes while the owners are there. I understand how you feel. You feel violated and it will take time for you to ever feel safe again. Find a punching bag somewhere to take out your frustrations on. It would really help.

Actually Jengrl,

I find reading and writing stories work just as well for me.

Crime has been on the wane for many years.

There are politicians and news outlets who garner a lot of votes and readers/viewers by trumpeting exaggerated claims to the contrary, but they're just gulling the rubes, not doing serious reportage.

One might as well believe a carnival barker who promises to reveal the "SNAKE BOY" who "DEVOURS SPIDERS" in an "AMAZING DISPLAY!!!" "UNKNOWN TO SCIENCE!" Or that one has a serious chance of winning a "FANTASTIC!" prize by tossing quarters at a pile of glass plates.

PTSD

Post traumatic stress disorder would be a start. In ordert to not let it develop into a syndrome talk to your doctor about Endoral its designed for people with acute PTSD. If you let it fester you will have a lot of sleepless nights and nightmares.
The 12 step program has a saying "Let go Let God"
Remember God is a God of second chances, you'll do fine.

You did suffer a traumatic stressor, it's up to you how you deal with it.

You're in my prayers.

You mentioned in your previous post that the police knew who it was who invaded your home, have they been arrested?

Not yet, but when they catch the bums, I get to I.D. them. But the Police are keeping an eye out on the house.

I Was In Milwaukee Today

For the NCAA tournament. It seemed safe to me.

Ouch.

That hurts dude.

Keep your faith, and chin, up and look towards the brighter tomorrow, unless you are a night owl like me, then look for the nice moon!

I hope the police catch the crooks, I don't like the idea of people like that having the ability to run around and terrorize people.

...uh my signature?

Hmmm...

You sound more than a bit off kilter. You sound a bit more like Stangirl. But that's to be expected when you confront real life on its own terms. They will never catch anyone so you don't have to worry about reliving and reliving the same thing over and over like many of the folks on the site. In all probability, you'll forget about the entire thing as soon as possible and get on with whatever it is you think you do.

Not Burglary

Stan, the only thing I'll add to this discussion is the observation that what you described is in no way burglary.

Burglary is a property crime in which someone sneaks into or breaks into someone's premises, undetected, and steals valuables and leaves. No confrontation or weapons are involved.

What you described sounds more like home invasion and attempted armed robbery, and possibly even being held against your will, which is kidnapping, much more serious crimes, as they are crimes of violence. As such, they are much more deserving of police attention, and you might want to point this out to them. If you google "home invasion" and fbi, you'll get a number of hits that seem to indicate that this might even be a federal crime. You can always call your regional FBI office, ask to talk to someone and give them the case number for your local case and see if they're interested.
