Had a weird dream last night. Somehow I'd landed a job on a new movie starring Jim Carrey as Herman Munster, Meryl Streep as Lillie and Tim Curry as Grandpa with Mike Myers as the slimy villain. Actually sounds good while I'm awake!
Anyway, the dream reminded me of TG sequences in that show, Herman, Grandpa and Edie each got sex changed in the show. I was a little kid when I saw them in reruns but they made an impression on me. I remember other shows thst had similar effects on me. It seems a lot more common nowdays to see TG episodes in ongoing programs, or maybe there are just more programs.
Anyone else remember any tv shows or movies with TG elements that you saw as a kid that left impressions on you?

Hmm let's see...
The earliest one I can remember is 'Turnabout Intruder' from Start Trek TOS, in which a vengeful ex-flame swaps bodies with Kirk.
Something that made more of an impression on me than that, however, was a story called 'The Procrustean Petard' - part of Star Trek: The New Voyages 2. In this the entire crew of the enterpirse, as well as that of a Klingon ship, have their genders changed, except for the strongest male on each ship, Spock and the Klingon Captain Kang, who each get an extra Y chromosome making them more aggressive.
The story really wasn't that great, and looking back it's kind of hard to believe it was written by two women. The females transformed into males all instantly become better officers, while the men transformed into women become indecisive and weak. What struck me about it, however, was it was the first time I had read a story that spoke to the things in my own head, and so it stuck with me.

Yes, I have that book!
I remember that story, I was quite excited reading it when I found it. What struck me was the sexual undercurrent between Spock and the transformed Kirk. I've seen some v-e-r-y strange Startrek fanfics, by comparison this one is fairly innocent. Imagine, a TS story that's lowkey!

But of course
The often quoted Bugs Bunny and even Fred Flintstone was seen in drag. Not to mention when our cast-aways on Gillian's Island got body switched. The impression I got when I was younger was that cross-dressing was just funny. It wasn't till later that I learned the hard way about the taboo.
