For those of you who were and possibly still are firefly fans, Josh Whedon's new series starring Eliza Dushku has I think, now got just as many fans and is receiving a similar cult status.

And it's already been

And it's already been canceled in its second season, but it did actually end, so there won't be too much disappointment. FOX let Joss know before hand that they weren't going to renew for a third season. He did the fans a big favor and finished it right.

Cancelled?

We're still going on series two.

At least it will finish right.

I don't just look it, I'm totally evil

finished right

Yes, another cult classic from joss whedon.

He did get to finish the season, and he tied off a lot of the plot lines, even if in a 'rushed' manner.

He also finished it off so that if it was picked up by syfy or similar, he had the opportunity to continue some of the characters, albeit in a future world state.

My only compliant is that to view the special episode 13 from series 1, you have to buy the dvd set.

Is the special episode from

Is the special episode from season (series) 1 not the one they showed at the end of season (series) 2? Joss has worked with Fox before. My understanding was that he filmed the story end with the first batch of episode, so that when Fox cancelled it, it would be ready. Towards the end of season 2, he was able to lead into it a bit more, but the actual last episode might have been filmed a year earlier.

episode 13 of season 1

Not that I'm aware. The 'missing' episode is about echo and alpha and finishes off the episode 12 storyline I believe.

E01x13

The missing episode (13) is not really about alpha en echo.

wikipedia:

The episode is set in 2019 in a post-apocalyptic state and utilized flashbacks within the episode to hint at the future the show may or may not take in later seasons. Joss Whedon screened the episode during the Dollhouse panel at the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con International and said the show would continue to feature scenes set in the future, that several of the characters introduced in this episode (including Felicia Day's character) would appear in episodes of the second season, and that the second season would follow the general continuity laid out in the episode, while reminding the audience that the episode is based on memories that may or may not be accurate.

A sequel, "Epitaph Two: Return" was aired on January 29, 2010 and was the final episode of the dollhouse series.
It's a really great series, and it's a pity it isn't continued.

E01x13... Shown on Sci-Fi UK

I'm fairly certain this episode was shown at the end of season one here in the UK. I can't be sure, but it did seem a bit out there, especially when season two proper started and didn't appear to follow in the same vein.

I'm in two minds whether to say that I'm sorry it won't continue, or happy in the sense that as with so many series, the ideas dry up and become stale, losing the originality that first attracted us. Sanctuary was one such series, although in fairness, that became stale before the end of the first series anyway.

Oh well, with a mind like that, I'm sure Josh will come up with something else equally astonishing, which will again enter the hallowed halls of cult status.

Sanctuary

I like Sanctuary, but felt the second season lacked something. They seemed stuck between making it like x-files (which could have been great) or just another sci-fi show.
I certainly miss Ashley Magnus, her character was great.

The show has ended in the

The show has ended in the US, with the last episodes shown a few weeks ago, before the piece you linked was written. I really wish Joss would find a network kinder to his shows than Fox.

The very first piece of fiction I posted here (or anywhere), some months back, was a Dollhouse Fan-fic.
