Great news gals and guys I'm going in for a orchiectomy on the 20th thanks to a very special friend of mine mew. So YAY my testicles are getting chopped off!!!! Ever since I learned I may never be able to get SRS thanks to my marfan syndrome, I've been kinda down, but this really made my day mew. I'll be going in on the 20th, and I'll be back who knows when. I think language is important in help sterilizing :) such an event. I for one do not mind calling it an orchiectomy. You make a slit ( after getting anesthetic ), cut the supporting tissue to the testes, slip them out and *walla* those poison factories are gone. Then the said surgeon gently ties off what's left and sews it together.
Having your balls chopped off has visions of some 7 foot guy with a black mask on, holding a big honking ax, pulls you out of bed by your scruff and drags you into the woods somewhere. Once there, he throws you across a blood covered tree stump and then using the aforementioned big honking ax, chops down, gets one then waits another 5 seconds ( just to get his aim since the blood from the first cut kinda blocked the view a bit ) and gets the other one - without anesthetic. Then he paws around, finds his torch ( not the electric kind for you Brits out there ) and shoves it right into your crotch and cauterizes what's left.
*shudder*
I had SRS so clearly I had no qualms removing them but still ....

Pros and cons
Since you've obviously had to think about this major body modification somewhat, can you (or someone equally as knowledgeable) point us in the direction of major pros and cons for doing it? Enquiring minds would like to know.

I've studied all about it, and the pros are no more testosterone, less chance of cancer becauser you wont need to take spironolactone anymore. I'll also be able to have a lowered hormone dose, and some girls report that after the surgery they get some more breast development. Cons are you will never produce sperm again ((as if I care xD)) so if you are planning on having kids, stay away from this option unless you plan to adopt like I do ;3 Also some transsexuals have died during this surgery, but meh you can die from anything. Also check out TSroadmap for other details ;3 The other con being it's permanent so if you find out later in life you'd like to have them, well it's too late. And I'm sure your doctor could explain more about it if you asked ((a transfriendly doctor of course)) Oh yeah, and it's going to hurt like hell ;3 For me though, far worth it. I've known who I was since I was a little girl, and I'm going through with what I can, no matter what mew ;3 Ask yourself this, Is it better to live a long and unhappy life doing what everyone else wants you to do, and being who everyone else wants you to be? Or is it better to live just one day being who you are, and doing what you want to do mew? I choose that just one day, and always will ;3

Thank you for your note. I have been thinking about having them done for some time now, although from a slightly different perspective to yourself. I need more information before beginning to consult with those concerned.
I know I can find out about the medical side by trolling teh interwebs :) I was more interested in what you expected your physical and emotional changes to be, compared to what went before.
Yes, I realise that such surgery would be permanent. I have already donated sperm - at least, I hope that's the reason I have two sons, and I'm old enough that I'm not going to be too bothered if I can't donate any more.
I'm not immediately contemplating full SRS, but mentally I'm currently in a place which is neither here nor there, and I'm seriously considering adjusting my body to match. That's why I'm interested in what happens. If that process should lead to SRS in the future, I've no problem with that. If it doesn't, then I'm - reasonably - okay with that too.
I suppose for pros and cons I more meant - changes in fat distribution? Unwanted side effects? Osteoporosis? Less chance of prostate cancer, for sure, that was talked about here a week or two ago. Softer skin? Acne? Oily hair? An abrupt male menopause and it's side effects? What about mental and emotional changes? In my case I (probably) wouldn't be supplementing with female hormones, so what differences would I likely experience?
