This is a site for Transgender Fiction. So why is there a category for "transgender"? Isn't that a bit redundant? Like having a category on a music site for "music"....

Transgender category
Notice that there is a category for non-transgender, too. :)
But the real reason for the transgender category is to have a place to list the subcategories.

I'm arguing semantics here
but I believe the category tag is well placed.
Although this site is primarily dedicated to the transgendered, a story only needs a character who is transgendered for it to qualify as TG fiction. You could liken the character in Twin Peaks played by David Duchovny or the 'nurse' in Red Heat--both appearing in drag. Their characters and their appearances were not central to the stories.
It doesn't necessarily mean that a story is TG orientated for it to be posted here and as a result, the tag is, I feel, necessary.
It may come as a shock, but many people here will only read stories with certain contents and need these tags to be in place to lure them towards the prose within...

funny in a way
I've actually posted a few bits on the hyperboard at FM asking for a few more categories, TG being one, as mine generally don't fit except as a 'misc story'. I don't really do fetish stuff so I miss most, most of the time. Here I've used the TG one a few times but not at others because the main character is not nec TG. Sometimes it's peripheral. I suppose here a story fits if it crosses a gender line somewhere, not nec what might be strictly TG. The categories seem often to be designed with a limited 'sex linked' idea of what it's all about. One wonderful thing that we can do on BC is actually write a category/description that fits the story then and there, yay Erin.

I understand... both points of view...
Consider myself to be transgendered, about as greatly as it is possible to be, but find no listed category for myself or my story so used the overall heading rather than more specific.
Of course, if the category had been available it would likely have given away too much of my story before reaching the "surprise" parts. I do so enjoy producing convoluted adventure/romance...
If I can't offend someone with the one part of the offering then I do with the other...
Some people apparently can't handle adventure and romance in the same novel...
Oh Well...
That may bring up an interesting question for ERIN... Are you considering placing an addition subcategory beneath the overall 'transgender' heading into which my story might better 'fit' (as in hissy)?
